I love these things, and have several that I use all year. I have several decoration-type of things that have no on/off switch and have to be plugged in and unplugged instead. But it seems like most of the places I want to put these things have plugs that are behind furniture and are hard to reach.
The footswitch extension cord is the perfect solution, letting me turn on these devices quickly and easily. I generally leave them plugged in and just curl them up behind the furniture when not in use. I've never had any problems with them and highly recommend them.

I thought this product was great until I bothered to read the packaging that came with it. The Amazon description does not say this, but on the packaging it states that this extension cord cannot be used for more than 90 days or else there is a fire hazard. Also, you might have missed, as I did, the inconspicuous link on the product page for California residents (presumably because only California has laws protecting consumers from this) that goes to a page that says the product has chemicals that are known to cause cancer and birth defects. It's also worth noting that the manufacturer has discontinued this product. If you're just using this product seasonally for holiday decorations, perhaps you won't mind, but I'd avoid this extension cord, especially if you have kids in the house or are expecting.Customer Review: Wonderfully useful

We have a few light sources that don't have an on/off switch, but with these you don't have to keep plugging them in and unplugging them, plus our small children can now "turn on" those lights.Customer Review: Works great

I use this cord with a lamp that has three bulbs that normally must be turned on and off individually. With this switch, I just keep them all on and toggle them all at once. The nightlight feature isn't necessary for me but I'm sure some people appreciate it. The item clicks satisfyingly upon use.
