Tools and Hardware Reviews of Hobart 770096 Welding Oxy-Acetylene Goggle - 50mm Eye Cup

Customer Review: A good deal for the frugal Steampunker/Mad Scientist
Summary: 4 Stars

These goggles are very durable and adjustable - a good deal for the 10+- bucks.
For those who are unaware, there are two lenses per eye: a pretty green glass one with a clear plastic one on top. Unfortunately, one of the plastic lenses arrived scratched, but it's something I can live with. The lenses are easily removed because the plastic ring in the very front unscrews. For some reason, the image used gives this ring a sort of "octogonal" look...which isn't the case with the actual goggles. They are very round, which is what I was hoping for.

The goggles are a bit larger than I would have expected, but I'm guessing this is normal for welding purposes. The plastic also digs into the skin around my nose a bit, and they aren't so comfortable resting on my forehead, so I'm going to add some thin rubber padding.
I plan on using these for a costume/welding, so I really can't complain much due to the great price.

These goggles are just begging to be customized with a fresh coat of paint, watch gears, and a new pair of lenses.
Have fun!

Customer Review: Awesome post-apocalyptic goggles...
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought these goggles for Burning Man - they are perfect for costuming. You can see thru the dark lenses, or remove them and have clear lenses.

They are easy to adjust, however the nose strap is uncomfortable after long term use - it presses too hard against the bridge of the nose.

They are NOT completely dust free (for fellow Burners), but in light Playa breezes and light/medium wind, they are fine. I went with a better goggle for the storms and was happier with the eye protection.

For the price, and the look - I recommend for sure.

Customer Review: Buy the identical, cheaper alternative instead.
Summary: 3 Stars

I bought these goggles and US Forge 108 Shaded #5 Economy Cup Brazing Goggles, figuring that one would be better than the other for a passive infrared goggle project. However, what I found was the US Forge goggles were identical in every way -- right down to the markings from the injection molding machine and the blue stripes in the elastic band. The only difference is that the Hobart goggles come with more packaging (a hard plastic box) while the US Forge goggles come in a sealed printed plastic bag.

As goggles go, they are perfectly usable although not overly comfortable. The eye-to-eye spacing is adjustable with a beaded chain (if you shorten it, cut the tails so you don't bonk yourself in the eye like I did).

Customer Review: Cool Goggles
Summary: 5 Stars

These are the highest quality goggles I have ever bought for such a good price.

Customer Review: Essential for steampunk
Summary: 5 Stars

I ordered these two days ago and they arrived about an hour ago. They are absolutely essential to anyone putting together a steampunk look! The price is right, the delivery time is phenomenal, and the product looks even better in real life than in the photo.
