My filter unit had the pre-filter replacement light on for a while and I finally remembered to hop on Amazon and order a replacement. The process of trimming the filter material to fit is rather a pain and leaves charcoal dust on whatever surface you use, so I'm knocking a point off for that. But the old filter was caked in pet fur and dust so I guess it is doing the job.Customer Review: Adequate Filter Replacement

I've used these for years, and its getting harder and harder to find these, except for at Amazon.
All you have to do is find your model on the template, cut it, put it in place and secure it with the velcro.

It's simple, this filter is awesome!
The pre-filter protects the regular HEPA filter from A LOT of airborne debris in my house. More than you would ever imagine. Mostly, this is because the fan is picking up dust off the floor and I don't change my pre-filter all that often. I let the dust pile up like a thick carpet on my pre-filter before changing it. Why waste money? Besides, my Honeywell units all tell me when the pre-filter is dirty (really dirty) with little light that turns on.
The pre-filter comes as a large sheet that must be cut down to size for your filter. (Cutting carbon fiber is a little dusty.) I can cut two strips from the packaged carbon fiber sheet and still have a little left over.
I save the left overs and when I have a few, wrap them together around my filter the next time I need to make a replacement. Same coverage. Saves money. Yeah, it's a tough economy. Speaking of which, buy multiples to consolidate shipping costs and store the extras for another day.

Don't waste you money on this poor excuse for a filter. It doesn't fit without cutting, and does not filter anything. You'd get better filtering from the bag it was packed in.
It's so bad, I wish I could give it no stars.
Stick with a name brand filter and save yourself some grief and breath better.

The filter works fine, but it is a generic "one size" filter that you have to "cut to size". I was expecting pre-sized filter, but that is not the case. The plus side is that you have so much left over that you can easily get two filters out of the one giant sheet you get after you cut them to fit. This is assuming you have a reasonably size air filter like I do. I'm sure someone out there has an air filter large enough for the this filter.
