The filters work great when they work at all. The filter shown in the picture is the old style which worked better than the new style which has a blue wrap around the filter to help prevent mold.
The problem is that after a few days they stop wicking gradually and eventually dry out even when remoistened.
Mold does build up occasionally but honestly they don't last long enough for that to be a serious problem.

Using Amazon.com's Free Shipping w/ a purchase of $25 or more came in handy when ordering this product. I had to order 4 (at the cost of $7.99 ea) and it was well worth it.
Living in NY the filters need to be changed on a constant basis, and with an unbeatable price (other stores charged almost $30 for one!) you can't go wrong!
The filter is wrapped with a convenient plastic handle which allows you to change the filter without getting wet or dirty. Very easy to insert and remove into my humidifier.
I highly recommend using this product. My only complaint is that the box it arrives in is somewhat flimsy, but a little bit of scotch tape and you are set. Doesn't even register as a setback in my book!

The order I placed is not what I received. They were the wrong size and unusable, but would cost to much to return to company. I would not recommend that you order thru them. This competible HAC504 is thiner than the original Honeywell HAC504 so it is less efficient and wasting power. It is cheaper than the Honeywell brand but you will pay more power bill.
