Tools and Hardware Reviews of Honeywell HCM-6009 QuietCare 9-Gallon Output Console Humidifier with Air Washing TechnologyCustomer Review: ANOTHER JUNK Summary: 1 Stars
IT VERY NOISY AND IT DOES NOT WORK EFFICIENT. I TRY IT FOR 3 WEEKS AND THERE IS STILL DUST OF THE COFFEE TABLE NEXT TO THE UNIT AFTER A THOROUGH VACUUM CLEAN. THIS UNIT IS NOT ENERGY SAVER AT ALL. AFTER INSPECTING THE FILTER, IT DOES NOT CAPTURE MUCH DUST AT ALL. IT REMIND ME OF USING A VACUUM THAT BARELY REMOVE DIRT
Customer Review: Bigger and Better Than Expected Summary: 4 Stars
The first thing I realized when I received this humidifier is that is huge. I guess that's my fault for not noticing that it's on castors in the picture. So, rather than sitting on my dresser in the bedroom, it sits on the floor. That being said, it does an amazing job. It is about as noisy as a machine a third of the size. It also has an auto shut-off feature which means you won't be over saturating the air with water and can really fine tune the atmosphere to your liking. It has two water tanks, which means it can run while you fill one up. Even with the camel-like water capacity, I still need to fill it about once every two-to-three days.
Customer Review: Broken...but Summary: 3 Stars
One of the water tanks came broken. I fixed it myself with a little epoxy. The fan shuts off when it runs out of water, which i think is a dumb idea. Otherwise, seems to work as advertised.
Customer Review: Do NOT buy this humidifier!!!! Definitely not worth it!!! Summary: 1 Stars
We bought this humidifier a year or so ago. It works all right, but is very noisy at any setting past the lowest one. It does not humidify sufficiently at the low setting. Not on a cold, dry winter day. But that's not the worst of it. It has a filter that needs to be changed just about monthly. Especially here, with animals in the house, the filter gets clogged up with pet hairs pretty quickly. Last March, I bought four filters for mine, to save time and having to think about it. I paid $8.39 for each filter at that time. I misplaced the 3 filters I had left over from March and wanted to order one while I figured out where I stashed those three. I was horrified to see that the new price on those filters is now $26.32 EACH (!!!). That is just obscene! So now, if I want to use my humidifier, I will have to pay almost $40.00 per month on this filter plus the "Tank Cleaning Cartridge", which I am not even sure does anything at all... I'm better off buying a couple of the smaller Holmes humidifiers for about $40.00 each. They are much quieter, use up less room and do not require filters. I will have to fill up their tanks more often, but it's worth the trade-off. Meanwhile, I am wondering where to bury this oversized, noisy monstrosity that is an insult through and through to any sane-thinking person.
Customer Review: Does the job Summary: 5 Stars
I've had this humidifier for over a month now and I love it. It's very easy to take the tanks out and return them to the base unit. I would agree with other reviewers that having the fill hole on top next the handle would have been nice. Or making the top where the handles are flatter so the tanks would sit better. However, I have found that I CAN set them up in my sink and let them fill. A little "wobbly" but it works. Also, found that holding the tank so that the handle hangs just over edge of sink lets it sit nicely. All I do is hold the thing steady and in 1 min 15 secs(yes, I timed it) a tank is filled. I figured that from the moment I pick up the two tanks from the unit and get them filled and bank into the unit about 4 min have passed. Not a big price to pay to get rid of that dry, dry air in my living room.
As far as capacity, I've found that the two tanks will last a solid 6-8 hours running on med fan speed. I run on low when I'm not home during day and then crank it to high when I get home, then back down to med over night.
As for cost of filters...if I have to buy two during the winter season then that is low price to pay for the comfort I get in return. (Heck, my heating bill is $200 some months so an extra $10 or so a month isn't so much.)
Bottom line...don't let some of these neg reviews influence you...this is a solid unit.
