Customer Review: I can't believe anyone would like this humidifier
Summary: 1 Stars

I bought one of these. I plugged it in and nothing happened! I called customer service at Kaz Incorporated. They sent me a new unit only after I had to mail them the water tanks. The new unit worked for FOUR days. Now they are paying for me to return this unit and are sending a third humidifier. I would rather get my money back!

Customer Review: I love it because it produced a lot of moisture but it broke after 2 weeks
Summary: 2 Stars

Shortly, i had no negative feelings about the work of this humidifier. The only problem was that while it was really quiet most of the time at certain periods it started to roar - pretty noisy. it woke me up one night. but it didn't happen often.
Then, after 2 weeks, it stopped working. Probably that roaring was the sign of some existing deffect. I sent it back to amazon and ordered a new one, not Honeywell this time.

Customer Review: It's not holding up
Summary: 3 Stars

I bought this unit at the beginning of the winter season after retiring my older, smaller Honeywell units. I wish I hadn't gotten rid of those smaller guys though because this one has some design flaws and isn't holding up.

My two major complaints are that when the tank is upside down filling, there's not handle to then lift it out of the sink or tub. First you have to cap it and then flip it and drip water all the way back to the unit. My older one had a handle on both ends. Secondly, there's now indicator to tell you when the tanks are empty.

Lastly, one of my tanks already has a number of cracks in it and I'm afraid it will start leaking. I expected this unit to last at least a few winters, not 1/2 of one.

Customer Review: Less than happy
Summary: 2 Stars

I did have to tighten up the screws that hold the fan assy together to get rid of an annoying buzzing noise. Other than that I like it. I think the complaints about having to hold the tanks while filling because the top is not flat are blown out of proportion.

Edit

After using this for a couple of seasons now, my appreciation has diminished considerably due to the ever present buzzing noise this thing generates. It still does the job, but the noise issue has become a major irritation. I have worked on the thing to try to remove or reduce the noise to no avail. This will be it's last season with me.

The good:
This humidifier works really well at raising the humidity level in a house quickly. We have always struggled to reach even 25-30% humidity during the winter months. This unit, even on low, quickly raised the humidity in the house to an acceptable level. In terms of fan speed, I find the two lower settings to both be decent in terms of noise level. No complaints with the noise level. We tend to run the system on the lowest setting, but even the second setting is tolerable in our family room where we watch TV. Our filters last about 6 weeks under constant use, before starting to develop a slight moldy smell. That is based on soaking the filter once a week, versus every time the tanks need refilled, as indicated in the maintenance instructions.

The bad:
The two water tanks do not drain simultaneously. The second tank remains full until the first one is empty. As others have noted, the water tanks do not sit in the base housing such that both tanks can drain as needed. It seems to be a poor design, as the second unit regularly fails to start draining when the first one is empty. Instead, the unit just shuts off as if it is out of water. This happens probably 6 out of 7 days a week, so I end up having to check the unit every morning and evening and reseating the second tank to get the unit running again.

Were it not for this frustrating issue, I probably would have given the humidifier a 5 star rating, but it is very irritating to have the unit routinely shut off when the second tank is full. A humidifier that isn't running isn't very effective.
