Tools and Hardware Reviews of Honeywell HCM650 4-Gallon QuietCare Cool Moisture HumidifierCustomer Review: Honeywell-HCM650 4 Gall QuietCare Cool Moisure Humidifier Summary: 5 Stars
Love this product. I use a 2 humidifiers year round, 24/7 due to asthma triggered by hot dry air. Many reviewers have complained about the fan noise. It is not ultrasonic so it does have a fan. However, the fan is a smooth noise with three settings, and the humidistat works 100 times better than the one on my former Bionaire humidifier. It is much quieter than the Bionaire and it works quickly. That means the fan comes on, puts out needed moisture and then turns off as soon as your desired humidity setting is reached. It doesn't turn off and on every 15 seconds like the annoying Bionaire did. Very little cleaning required with Protec and filtered H20 (no minerals) water. In short, It is much quieter and MUCH more efficient than other top brands I've used. Also less expensive. As soon as my other Bionaire goes, I will buy this one again from Amazon.
Customer Review: Humidifier Review Summary: 4 Stars
A quiet, efficient piece of equipment thus far. It's MUCH too soon, however, to comment on it's durability and thus as to whether it was, or was not a wise purchase. I would have liked to have had more information on this latter point (durability) prior to purchase.
Customer Review: Humidifies nothing, but leaks all over Summary: 1 Stars
Bought this at the end of last winter. It worked all right the couple of times we used it, but when we have been using it this winter, it consistently empties out the tank when the tank gets close to empty, resulting in the water spilling out all over the floors. Get this product if you want an excuse to get new floors, because you could wake up and find a giant puddle of water everywhere! We put a plastic container under it to make sure that it wasn't a one time thing and it happens every time. This feature should be mentioned in the description!
Customer Review: Humidity inside my house went from 25% to 42%! Summary: 5 Stars
I got tired of having my house as dry as a desert during winter, plus the static shocks and super dry skin. So, this winter I decided I was going to try a humidifier. My house is around 1,800 sq.ft. so at first I considered one of those humidifiers that install directly into your AC/Heat central System. I decided not to use that one since my attic is not that well insulated and the water line might end up freezing. I started researching different "small" models and then I found this Honeywell humidifier. I liked that its tank is middle size and that it uses cool moisture. Since it is rated for 850 to 1400 sq.ft., I decided to buy 2: one for upstairs and one for downstairs.
They are easy to install. The first time you use it, it is recommended that you disinfect it using a clorox and water solution. After that you just wet the filter on regular tap water, install it, fill the tank and it is ready to work. It has 3 settings for fan speed and a digital setting for the humidity % that you want to reach (maximum being 65%), with an additional setting for auto shut-off (anywhere from 1 hour to 18 hours).
As soon as I started using them, I went for full speed and humidity. My house went in just 1.5 days to 42% humidity, which is amazing. It feels so MUCH comfortable inside now, plus the added benefit that it actually is warmer! My Central heating system would run all night trying to fight the cold weather, but with these 2 humidifiers running, my system was actually able to shut-off for most of the night.
One of the tanks came with its handle kind of loose, so I called Honeywell's Support and they sent me a new tank on the mail! (I'm still waiting for it), so that tells you that their customer support is very good.
To add to all this, Consumer Reports ranked this humidifier in the top 5 of its humidifier list and recommended it, so that tells you that this humidifier is no joke. Overall, I would highly recommend it, since my experience has been very good with it.
Customer Review: Ineffective, loud, and makes the room cold Summary: 2 Stars
I've had this product for 2 weeks and am about to put it in the trash. (1) We bought it for a room about 300 sq feet and it was never able to raise the humidity level above 35 percent. (2) The filter is designed badly and starts to fall apart after one use. (3) The fan is loud. (4) The fan is too powerful, even on the lowest setting. It blows cold air across the floor at ankle level and causes you to turn up the furnace/heat just to compensate.
