I purchased this fan about 4 years ago and today (Aug 2010) the oscillating motor part died. Since the motor (synchronous motor TYJ50-8 E199324 4w 3r/min) was $20 by its self, it didn't make sense to replace it. When I took the fan apart I also noticed the caps that cover the soldered electrical connections were pretty loose.
My fan has been used for travel mostly and its kept properly oscillating after years of trunk abuse and loads of musical bass. One day it just decided to stop oscillating. The fan still works though.
I think its pretty dumb that Target decided to only carry the NON-oscillating variety of this fan. Bummer.
I plan to buy another oscillating one whenever they are back in stock.

I got this because I burned out my previous small oscillating fan. This one is smaller and more powerful. The design is great but it is insufficient if you want to cool more than a small room (what do you expect with its size) I just point it where I need it the most. I recomend placing it as low as possible (where the cool air is) or you can place it in close proximity to an AC, vent, dehumidifier, or other similar unit.Customer Review: Great Compact Fan Deal!

I ordered this fan for my new apartment to help circulate the central air that freezes the bedroom while the living room bakes. It really moves a lot of air and isn't loud at all (sure, it isn't silent, but it isn't obtrusive at all and is actually quite pleasant for sleeping.) I really appreciate the oscillating function because it doesn't squeak and helps for a more thorough air flow. It is also quite compact and sleek but with a decent cord length. The head can be adjusted (and stays put!) and has three functions that offer choice. Really nice little fan!
***UPDATE! I liked it so much I ordered another one from amazon.com. A really great little fan!

This fan works well, creates a strong air flow and is compact. I use this fan on a table and it does not take up much room, oscillates well, creates a steady amount of wind and is not loud. I would buy this fan again and recommend it.
