We need a fan that can be used as "white noise" and this is the perfect one for us to use. We had three that we used for many years (same brand) and this is a replacement. My husband and children cannot sleep in total quiet, and this is just the perfect sound they say makes them sleep through the night.

Customer Review: Does not match the original high velocity fan

I thought these fans would match the performance of the high velocity fans, but the highest setting is about equal to the lowest setting of high velocity fan. I would not buy again, even if they are a bargain on Amazon. Spend a bit more and get a better performance fan with much more usable range. If you are looking for a quieter fan, these are not that quiet at the lowest setting and after having purchased four of these identical fans, two of them make subtle vibration type noise. Perhaps the fans are not well balanced or the motor bearing is not up to par. Besides, air movement is minimal at the lowest setting. I don't like to give poor reviews, but very little wiggle room with these.

Over the past few years, I've purchased four of these fans. Criticisms regarding its limited swiveling ability are warranted, but it does a respectable job of circulating air. One of the four fans I received was dead on arrival (would not turn on, no juice), but Amazon was quick to replace it at no charge. If I need to cool a small area in the future, I would not hesitate to purchase another.
