3 units purchased September 1, 2006. Two are still doing the job while one developed a problem with one of the two fans. One side still works, the other side the fan motor will turn slowly and will no longer start even with a nudge.
Nice removable grill that allows easy cleaning of grill and fan blades. We have kitties so the inevitable wads of hair that accumulate must be cleaned off.
Nothing to compare these fans with but they do seem to be fairly quiet on the two lower speeds. I'm debating replacing the one fan with the same unit.

2 years and it's still going. I have set it up in my kitchen window starting in spring and take it down before winters arrival. When the AC is on I simply cover the fans with 2 paperplates so as not to lose any of the AC. Granted, the paper plates many not be so pretty but it does the job.
When the weather is a bit cooler outside but still hot indoors, this fan does the job I personally bought it for! I have been asked a few times whether I had the AC on when in fact it was just this little fan doing it's thing. All in all I am very pleased and hope to get many more 'cooler' years with it.

As the owner of a Duracraft Twindow that had all but died, I was looking for a replacement. The Twindow is now the honeywell HW-628. It appears to be a near clone of the Twindow which had better quality than most all of the wannabes. It is not as quiet as the Twindow (15 years old) which is a function of motor speed more than blade pitch. All in all, still a good quality fan. It has developed a small rattle on one of the fans I still need to investigate.Customer Review: 3 of 4 Fans units stopped working within 3 months. Motors are of Poor Quality

I 1st purchased 3 of these fan units in early May 9th of 2009 for my Apartment. With in in a couple of days one fan on one unit stopped working. It was returned to Amazon and a replacement unit was sent out. Within two weeks of that another single fan in another unit stopped working. That unit was returned for credit. Now today, August 2nd a third unit has gone bad. This time Neither fans work and we are outside of the Amazon return.
Fans were used normally. Manufacture recommendation of turning the fans off before switching fan direction were followed. At $40 a piece I would have hoped to at least get 2 or 3 years out of the fans not 2 or 3 months
Upon further review the fans come with a 5 year warranty from the manufacturer, Kaz (Kaz has purchase a license to market the fans under the Honeywell Name). Section D of the Warranty section of the owners manual states "Return defective product to Kaz Home Environment with a brief description of the problem and a $10 US/ 415.50 CAN check or money order for handling, return packing and shipping charges. Please include your name, address and a daytime phone number. YOU MUST PREPAY SHIPPING CHARGES. We suggest having tracking or delivery confirmation"
In other words they are having the consumer pay for their poor quality mistakes which is designed to sway consumers from sending returns back. I will never buy another KAZ product.

wish is would have had this fan earlier in the summer - put it in my bedroom window and some days it feels as though the AC is on!! the fact that you can adjust it to turn off and kick in when the room reaches the desired temperature is a wonderful feature, too! would like to have a couple more of these for other rooms in the house! turned out to be a terrific gold box purchase!
