Tools and Hardware Reviews of Honeywell HW-628 Enviracaire Twin Window FanCustomer Review: Basic product information is missing Summary: 1 Stars
I own a house which will be 200 years old in 8 years. I need window fans for the upstairs, which gets extremely hot and stuffy. Due to the age of my house, the windows are quite narrow (22 1/2 inches wide). Nowhere in any of the reviews, nor in the product description, is the MINIMUM width of this fan displayed. The maximum width is mentioned, but not the minimum. Shouldn't it be?? If the minimum width of the fan is too wide for my (or anyone else's) windows, then I can't use it!
Customer Review: Batting .500 but disappointing overall Summary: 3 Stars
We had one of these in our kitchen window for about 18 months (and it worked GREAT) when one fan started squealing and subsequently quit. I accepted that as the useful life (given 12 hrs. a day of usage) and purchased an identical replacement. After going through the trouble of installing it and connecting it, the right fan sparked and quit instantly. So I had to uninstall it, find the original packaging and have UPS pick it up. Maybe I just had a lemon, but I'm looking for another brand and wish I could find the old metal ones like they had in the 60's and 70's.
Customer Review: Best for the money Summary: 5 Stars
I've bought several Holmes fans over the years, and thought that all these double fans were basically the same. WOW what a difference. This is so much more powerful than the Holmes. It's a good deal.
Customer Review: Best of 3 window fans we own Summary: 5 Stars
I bought a Holmes HAWF2030 (very wimpy fans - this one is not recommended) a few years ago and then got a Holmes HAWF2043 soon afterwards - the 2043 is much better, creating a stronger breeze. We use the fans to blow cool air from outside into the apartment in the evening. Since the 2030 doesn't really do the job worth a darn, I purchased this Honeywell HW-628 and it's far better than both the Holmes fans as far as how much air it moves. Since we've only used it one night, I can't comment on durability, but all three fans are made of plastic and of similar quality. The only downside of the Honeywell is that the tabs to lock the side panels in place are in the back, which is funky. And though it fits in the window with the screen, it's a tight fit in our window and ALMOST pushes the screen out. We're keeping the Holmes HAWF2043 (have had it a few years and it works perfectly well) for one of the bedrooms and using this new Honeywell for the other.
UPDATE: 29 October 2009 - Durability of this fan is fine. It's still going strong.
Customer Review: Best one Summary: 5 Stars
Very happy with the product. The best I would say for the price. Go for it.
