Tools and Hardware Reviews of Honeywell HZ-709 7 Fin Oil Filled Radiator Heater with Digital Controls

Customer Review: Don't buy it.
Summary: 1 Stars

I bought this heater last year from Wal-Mart. The heater worked great. This year it worked for about a month and now it will not even come on.

Customer Review: Fantastic Value Heater, Works very well !
Summary: 5 Stars

Purchaced this heater to heat my workshop. Tested it out the first week in my home in a cool Bedroom. The heat is even, and the unit is easly set up. The Digital controls are simple to operate and have worked as advertized without fail. The one hour to 18 hour automatic shut off feature is nice for over night warmth that shuts off by it's self in the morning. In my insulated 10 foot by 16 foot shop it warmed up the area well and keeps the whole room at a comfortable level even on freezing days. It also is nice to set it to a lower temperature setting just to maintain the shop above freezing when i'm not working there. Overall this is a Very Good Heater that I recomend.

Customer Review: Fire Hazard

Burned out 2 wall outlets and a power strip. When in the power strip I saw sparks and quickly unplugged it. Will write Honeywell soon. Be VERY careful!

Customer Review: Gets warm but not if you are over 15 inches away
Summary: 3 Stars

I bought this at Walmart when an ice storm hit. We plugged this into our emergency generator and this "Large room" heater is not a "Large room" heater. Our living room is rather large and the temperature in the room has risen above a very cold 50 to about 64 since we have had this running... for NINE hours. nine hours to raise the temp 14 degrees in the room. I will give this a try in the master bedroom tonight where we have moved our pre-teens in with us until we get full power restored. May be it will warm up the bedroom. My only real issue is that this is marketed as a "Large room" heater and it just isn't. Medium - maybe.. small.. sure. Wally world had this for $65 and it was the last one. All the other heaters left over were marketed as small or medium room - so you can see why I am irritated that this didn't perform as expected.

Customer Review: Good for bedroom
Summary: 4 Stars

If you are looking to heat up a fairly open space i.e. living room, den, or family room do not get this heater. But if you want to heat up your bedroom for those cold nights then this is the heater for you. It heats up the room without cooking you. The digital thermostat is nice, I like to set it at 72 for a moderately toasty feel. If 72 is your chosen temperature what this unit does is raise the temperature to 74 then shut off then turn back on at 70, so basically you will have a constant gradual 4 degree swing.

The unit is heavy, so storage may be a problem for some but overall it does what it is supposed to do.
