Tools and Hardware Reviews of Honeywell HZ365 Ceramic HeaterCustomer Review: Great Little Heater Summary: 5 Stars
Love this little guy. On remote, so it handles my lazy bone. Heats up quickly, can easily adjust temperature by remote, is compact, fits under desks easily. I actually own 4 of them.
Customer Review: Great Personal Heater Summary: 5 Stars
I've had this unit for several days and I could not be more pleased. The range of features meets a variety of needs and the remote is quite handy. This heater quickly heated my room and it operates very quietly. Turning the unit on and off was a little confusing at first because the power button also switches between hi and low heat levels. If you take a few minutes to read the brief instructions you shouldn't have any problems.
Customer Review: Great if you're an engineer; otherwise consider something else Summary: 2 Stars
This heater is fine if you want to turn it on and off manually. If you want it for the thermostat feature, forget it.
I purchased this heater to keep a 15 x 15 baby's room at 70 degrees in a house that drops to 65 degrees during the night. Oddly enough, the temperature reading on the heater is NOT the room temperature. It's the temperature of the air immediately around the heating element. So even though the room may be at 70, the heater will read 80. And when the heater automatically shuts off, the thermostat reading continues to climb to 84 while the actual room temperature is dropping. When I contacted the manufacturer, they confirmed it was designed this way, and referred me to the web site where it explicitly states this. So we found we had to keep the heater set at 79 to maintain a roughly 70-degree room.
Secondly, the push-button processes to use the thermostat are not intuitive and require some memorization. For example, to run the heater on low power at a set temperature, you have to hit the 'Power On' button twice; then hit the "Temp/Time" button once, then set the temperature using the up/down arrow buttons, then hit the oscillating button. If you accidentally it the "Temp/Time" button again, everything resets itself.
We ultimately returned this heater and bought one for $16.99 that has a simple knob to set the thermostat and a "Off/Fan/Low/High" switch. Same wattage and heater output. The only thing it doesn't have is the timer and oscillator which were not useful features to us anyway. We are much happier and saved $35.
Hope this is helpful.
Customer Review: I'll give it four stars Summary: 4 Stars
Its a nice heater it heats the room quickly although I do wish it had a quieter fan speed. I gave it four stars because it doesn't have a safety tip-over switch. The controls are easy enough for me to figure out. The best thing about this heater is I've had it for 3 or 4 years (give or take) and it still works perfectly.
Customer Review: INCORRECT DESCRIPTION, NO BACKLIGHT!!! Summary: 4 Stars
This is a good little heater and I am quite happy with it (bought 4). Unlike another review, I don't find it hard to remember how to operate it: hit power once to turn on high power, hit again to turn on to low power, hit it a third time to turn off. Press the thermostat to turn on that feature. Once nice feature is that the heater remembers your desired thermostat settings between uses. However, yes, the thermostat does read high. If you want ~68, set it to ~75. It's not a big deal for me.
I bought this unit over the DeLonghi SafeHeat DFH550R because of the Honeywell has a display, rather than a rotary knob on the DeLonghi, and the product description, here and on epinions, lists a backlight.
Well, THERE IS NO BACKLIGHT. When I called product support, I was told it was discontinued. So unless, you get an older version, you will not get a backlight.
While I am happy with the heater, the incorrect product description, which was part of what closed the deal for me, merits the loss of a star.
