Tools and Hardware Reviews of Hoover L2310 GUV 10 Amp 5-Gallon Garage Utility Vacuum

Customer Review: Garage vac
Summary: 4 Stars

Very nice vacum that is easy to move and doesn't take up much space. The 30 foot hose reaches every part of my garage with hose to spare. The only thing againt it is the hose size it will plug up with bigger objects , but if the hose were bigger it wouldn't be as flexable which is nice. I give it a 4 + for ease of use.

Customer Review: Geat Garage/Utility Vac, but Attachment Could be Better
Summary: 4 Stars

This is about the best solution to the garage/utility vac I've found. The idea is that instead of pulling something on wheels all over the place and having the thing tip over or the hose pull out or it gets snagged on obstacles, you hang the vac (out of the way), and simply use the 30 foot hose to get to any area of your garage or cars. Suction is excellent, at least as good as any of the high-end vacs I've used, noise is reasonable, construction is very high quality. The all-metal tank enclosure that hangs on the wall is built like, well, a tank. The only disappointment was the quality of the attachments. The extension wands are a very flimsy thin plastic. Once, stepping backwards on one I actually cracked and broke it (I weigh 200 lbs.; I'm not fat but a big guy). Trying to buy a replacement part from Hoover is a nightmare. Other than bags and belts, pretty much nothing available from them on their web site. You have to call an 800 #, where an operator will give you the name of an "authorized Hoover dealer" who you then have to call for the privilege of having them order you a $3 part. The dealer I called was 1/2 hour away, and had no idea what I was talking about despite my having supplied him with the model # of the vac (the manual does not give you a parts diagram or exploded view). He just sold household vacs and clearly didn't want to be bothered with me. Hoover apparantly belongs to the old school mentality of "protecting their dealers," a great philosophy I guess if you have dealers worth protecting, but what about your customers?

Finally figured out that Sears sells this vac and in five minutes I had my part ordered on their web site which is excellent for parts replacement.

So I'm taking away one star for this dual annoyance of cheap attachments and making it as hard as possible to get replacement parts. But overall this thing rocks and I'm very pleased with it.

Customer Review: Good Buy
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought this for my barn and have mounted it on a dolly. It has great suction, very versitile, and durable. I would highly recommend it.

Customer Review: Good system
Summary: 4 Stars

Why 4 stars? Static buildup. It cleans like any good shop vac and the long hose is perfect for a 25 X 25 foot space. Plenty of attachments and a nice holder for them. Easy to mount and clean. You can tie on the tool holder and take them with you around the area. I plugged the system into an outlet that had just been wired to code by a professional. It still builds up large static charges on the hose. Touch anything grounded and you get quite a shock. Back into anything grounded and you get an experience!

Customer Review: Good vac with a few caveats
Summary: 4 Stars

My vac arrived quickly but the lower cannister was dented pretty bad on the bottom edge, enough to flake the paint; looks like it was dropped. There was no visible damage to the outside of the box, so maybe Hoover's quality control inspectors could use some improvement. I was pleased it was made in N. America and not you know where and I was able rotate the dent to the backside and it did not affect functionality, so it was not worth the hassle of sending back.

One warning mentioned briefly in the manual: "do not use an extension cord under any circumstances", presumably due to the high current, so make sure you have an outlet close to where you plan to mount it; the cord is not very long.

The unit is easy to mount and does provide good suction. As another buyer pointed out, it does get quite hot on top.

Both the hose wall bracket and the included accessory pouch are hany for storage. Overall, a good buy with free shipping.
