Tools and Hardware Reviews of Household Essentials 1600 12-Line Outdoor Umbrella-Style Clothes Dryer with Aluminum ArmsCustomer Review: Good equipment, but could be a bit better. Summary: 4 Stars
I have one of these many years old. It is very durable, but not well machined and a bit clunky to operate. No matter, it is the best you are going to find and it is quite usable.
Two comments:
The center pole creates a line several inches too short for a 6' person to get by without ducking. Very annoying if back yard space is small. This can be overcome by humping up your concrete fill a few inches above grade.
The cords are too stretchy and the whole thing needs a funky tightening session a time or two a year.
That said, if you are just getting into a new drying alternative, enjoy! It takes a little getting used to. Avoid the chemical softeners and soon you will love the fragrance of crisp sunshine.
Customer Review: Good value! Summary: 4 Stars
I have been using the clothesline between 2-3 times a week for almost 2 months. (The previous owner had a sleeve installed for his clothesline, so I can't comment on the ease of installation in the ground.) The clothesline works fine, definitely a good value for the price. I put out one load of laundry at a time so that I can space things out in my humid climate. The clothesline is quite roomy and has handled the weight of wet clothing without issue. The collapsible arms make it easy to put away if a windy storm is coming. The cording/tubing is a bit slack, but I haven't needed to tighten anything yet. I'd recommend this item and look forward to many years of hanging out my family's laundry!
Customer Review: Good value, good idea Summary: 4 Stars
I chose this clothesline after reading other positive reviews at Amazon. I live in a rainy part of southcentral Alaska, but on any day that isn't raining the clothes dry quickly in the breeze. I probably will not leave the clothesline up when the snow begins to fly, but if I do, I will write a second review.
Customer Review: Great & inexpensive Summary: 5 Stars
Dryer works well, is very sturdy, easy to take down in bad weather, and 1/2 the price of our local hardware store. It only took less than an hour to properly install using concrete as recommended.
Customer Review: Great deal for the money Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this umbrella clothes dryer and Amazon shipped it promptly. I took the advice from a previous review and set it in an umbrella stand in my patio, which works great. Since we live in a neighborhood with a Homeowner Association that does not allow clothlines installed on a permanent basis I can easly remove the umbrella clothes dryer and bring it indoors when I am finished with the laundry.
You only need to be careful to not overload this clothes dryer. (Maybe if I would have installed it in the ground with the longer pipe that is provided it would not be an issue to balance it correctly.) Also, by spacing one load of towels or two loads of lighter clothes the clothes/towels will dry very quickly. We did have to tighten the cloth lines, but that was easy to do. Overall, I really like this product and it saves me from running my electric dryer, which makes this product pay for itself over time.
