I have one of these types that is planted outside in the back yard. I have an acre. I however, will be moving into a apartment. I know for a fact that these type of close lines work with experience. Now, with all of the great reviews about this indoor type I will not hesitate to buy one for the apartment living. Thanks to all for your great reviews whether you liked it or not. We have a second home in upstate New York. I like to dry laundry outdoors as the air is very fresh and clean. The ground is too rocky for a traditional clothesline so I thought this might do the trick. I was a little hesitant in that it wouldn't be permanently installed but that turned out to be a plus. The dryer is very large, holds a large amount of laundry and is fairly sturdy. The fact that it's portable makes it useful for indoor drying as well and I may buy another for our primary residence. The only faults are that set up/closure is not intuitive and a little cumbersome and it did blow over in a strong wind. The dryer in my girlfriend's apartment doesn't work all that well and her landlord seems to be in no hurry to get it fixed. After carefully measuring her apartment to make sure she had room to set this up inside (can't put it outside in the snow this time of year), I ordered this.
I'm very happy with it. It's so much more useful than the wooden dowel drying racks in that it has room to hang things properly and also doesn't give you splinters or get your clothes dirty.

We live ian an area that rains frequently and have no ideal spot for clothes lines. We purchased this for towels and other items to hang outside and be able to move when it rains. Its great!!!! A little unstable with full or heavy loads. If you know this, you can work with it. We love Whitney Design P1900 3-Arm Portable Umbrella Clothing Dryer
