Tools and Hardware Reviews of Household Essentials 3-Arm Portable Umbrella Clothing Dryer

Customer Review: Drying the natural way!
Summary: 5 Stars

My portable umbrella indoor - outdoor clothes dryer is exactly what I wanted. It holds a couple of loads of laundry. It is totally cost effective. I can't wait to put it outside and have my clothes smell like the fresh outdoors. You do however, have to distribute the clothes evenly. On windy days I plan on putting something around each leg to make sure it doesn't get knocked over. It is light weight and easy to assemble.

Customer Review: FANTASTIC

I LOVE it !! (saves lots of $$ by not using my dryer !! )

Customer Review: Gets the job done
Summary: 4 Stars

My electric dryer died a while back so I ordered this clothesline to hold me over till I can replace it. It's aluminum with plastic lines but it seems sturdy enough. When I took it out of the box, I thought it was a little small but it holds a full load of clothes with room to spare. I have a 7.5 cu. ft. front loading washer and I run it full. I usually have two lines completely empty on this clothesline. I'll have to be creative to hang large sheets but I think it will work even for that.

I like that I can set up the clothesline in the backyard when the weather's nice or put it in the garage or even inside the house if it's raining. The legs are a little bit long but I can actually fit the clothesline in my master bathroom or walk-in closet if needed. I was a little concerned about how my neighbors might feel about a clothesline but this one is so compact that it's pretty discreet. No complaints from anyone so far.

The "tiers" are very close together which gives you a lot of hanging space in a small area but I think the clothes in the middle would dry faster if the lines were farther apart so more air could circulate. I guess time isn't much of a factor when you're line drying though. The only other complaint I have is that the top piece snaps into the base so the clothesline doesn't "spin". That means when you're hanging clothes, you have to constantly walk around the thing which is not too bad in the yard but if you're inside in a tight area, it would be nice to just be able to turn it in place.

A few reviewers have commented that the clothesline tips over too easily. I wonder if they had the legs fully extended right. I'm not in an incredibly windy area, but I actually tried to tip it over and it stood firm. I've also had two preschoolers running around it playing hide and seek in the laundry and never had an issue with it wobbling.

I will eventually replace my electric dryer, but I expect that I'll continue to use this clothesline for most things. Line drying isn't for everyone but overall, I'm happy with the purchase and would recommend it to anyone who's in the market for a portable clothesline, especially if space is a concern.

*****Update*****
As fate would have it, not long after I posted this review, the wind blew my clothesline over. As I was standing it back up, I tripped and fell breaking one of the legs on the tripod base. I was able to "splint" the broken leg and use rocks and sandbags to stabilize the clothesline but just for grins, I e-mailed the manufacturer to see if it was possible to buy a replacement tripod. Within an hour, I got an e-mail back from them apologizing for the accident and letting me know that they were sending me a replacement base at no charge. I should have it in a couple of days. Customer service is not dead!

Customer Review: Great Clothes Dryer
Summary: 5 Stars

Myt wife is a minimalist in some areas and drying clothes is one of them. Living in the Northwest we have cool wet winters and hot dry summers. Line drying our clothes and bedding is done outdoors during the summer and the smell and feel of line-dried sheets is one of our simple pleasures. Indoor drying in the winter is more of a challenge trying to get the same rough feel on sheets and towels. We used to have sheets and towels plus all our other laundry that didn't fit on a wooden folding-style rack strewn over everything.

I saw this rack, decided to buy it and although my wife was skeptical, she now loves it. A set of queen sheets fits around the outer lines with lots of room for pillow cases and everything else in the inner sets of lines. Very easy to assemble and disassemble. The wide legs provide plenty of support for the lightweight dryer.

The top is made to lock into the bottom of the two two-piece unit but we leave the top tube riding on the nylon/plastic locking pin so we can spin the top in place so we don't have to "circle" the dryer while hanging clothes. This way we can spin the top part in place - which would be a nice feature for outdoor use also if you didn't have to lock the top in place.

It's a great drying rack for the price and being able to use it both indoors and outdoors as reported by other reviewers is a plus.

Customer Review: Great Product For My Needs & To Help Be Green
Summary: 5 Stars

This is really a great products for my use for several reasons. First the most important reason is it saves money on my power bill and is good for the enviorment. Next I rent a house so cementing a pole on someone eles property is not an opption. Also I live in a subdivison that would not like my laundry strung all over my back yard, we have no fences. Also if it rains which it has non-stop for 1 month I have brought it indoors. This product is strudy and works great for my family of two. Lastly the fact that I can take it with me when I move, make this a great product for my needs.
