Tools and Hardware Reviews of Household Essentials 5601 Resin Wicker Hamper

Customer Review: Hamper will not damper your spirits...
Summary: 5 Stars

Suprisingly a lot better than I thought it would be. This item is totally collapsed in the box but unfolds to a sturdy attractive piece. Our walls in BR are Behr's Camel and the hamper matched nicely and gave a modern look. I think you will enjoy.

Customer Review: Holds laundry - but could've been designed better
Summary: 4 Stars

It's sturdy and does what it's supposed to do - hold laundry. Velcro closes the lid. I've had it for about a year, and it still stands up properly. I was worried that the wicker would slowly break or lose sturdiness, but it's still good. No problems.

The only thing I don't like it the fact that the handles are placed front and back. If the lid is open all the way, it will cover the back handle and you will not be able to pick this up. I know, it's a minor issue, but why couldn't the handles have been placed on the sides - like most other things with handles.

Customer Review: It's worth more than what you'll pay
Summary: 4 Stars

We have an antique house and are fairly mindful of the aesthetics regarding anything we put in it. All that being true, I am diametrically opposed to spending a lot of money on a clothes hamper. This one is completely functional and looks just fine. I am actually buying precisely the same one for another room in the house.

Customer Review: Looks great, large capacity, but watch for mildew
Summary: 3 Stars

I purchased three of these hampers two years ago - one each for whites, darks, and dry cleaning. Here are the pros and cons:

PROS: The hampers are easy to set up, hold about 2 loads of laundry each, and look like they belong in a high-end spa. Worth the price for the looks alone. If kept dry (e.g., just for dry cleaning), they still look great two years later.

CONS: Damp towels, washcloths, or t-shirts WILL MILDEW AND STAIN the lining of this hamper, and the lining is not removable for washing. Also, the front of the lid (right next to the rope handle) is held down by velcro, and when you carry the hamper, you cannot avoid chafing your hand on the scratchy half of the velcro. Bulky to carry around, which is to be expected for a container that can store two loads of laundry.

I have liked these in general, but am ready to replace them (not necessarily with the same brand) because I really dislike the mildew stains on the two hampers that have been used for washables - even though no one sees the marks but me, they're everywhere and are gross.

Customer Review: Looks nice, for now
Summary: 4 Stars

The hamper does it's job and for the money it's a good buy. The wicker material is cheaply made and probably won't last long - the treads come out of it here and there, but overall it's a bargain.
