Tools and Hardware Reviews of Howard Leight LPF-1 Max Lite Uncorded Foam Earplugs Box, 200 PairCustomer Review: Earplug Primer Summary: 4 Stars
Howard Leight Max Lite:
-They look the worst (they are green as they are industrial use designed)
-They are T-shaped, which I don't like and I find myself cutting the T end off at times
-They are very comfortable
-They do a very good job of blocking sound
Flents Quiet Please:
-They look the best (they are almost a white, which makes them look clean and non-offensive, as some reasonably think others earplugs are gross)
-They are a plug shape which is basically the same shape as the bell
-They are very comfortable (although the material is kinda odd and feels like it would cause friction it is somehow fine)
-They do a fairly mediocre to poor job of blocking sound
Hearos:
-They look reasonably good
-I like the bell shaped ear plugs over the T-shaped ones
-They are NOT comfortable for repeated long term wearing (possibly just in those w/ sensitive ears / small ear canals, but for whatever reason I'm one)
-They do a very good job of blocking sound
So as is always the case, each one has some tradeoffs depending on what is important to you. Personally I've tried them all for extended periods and the Max Lite is the winner in my book as comfort and sound blocking I rate as the most important categories, I'd love if it looked better (or there was a home use version that looked better). If you don't need as much sound blocking (Flents) or have ears that don't get bothered by larger sized / pressure ear plugs (Hearos) those might be the choices for you.
Customer Review: Excellent for sleeping, does not hurt ears...! Summary: 5 Stars
My husband snores...need I say more? I've tried several brands looking for relief, many work from a noise reduction perspective, but I end up with really sore ears in the morning. I'm petite, and I guess that runs to ear size as well. I can wear these all night everynight and no more sore ears and I sleep through undisturbed. A true godsend! :-)
Customer Review: Extremely Satisfied! Summary: 5 Stars
I love these earplugs! I have small ears and these are perfect. I can now sleep wonderfully without the sound of loud snoring next to me.
At first, I bought the Super Leight earplugs at CVS, which had a Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) of 33 decibels. They worked great at reducing noise, to the point where I just saw lips move and I was totally deaf. These Super Leights, however, hurt my ears. When I took them out, my ears felt sore.
Then, I ordered these babies! The Max Lites are thinner and I could wear them all day! When I wear them to sleep, my ears don't feel sore in the morning. Although they have an NRR of 30 decibels, they still work great at blocking out noise. I can hear people talking but it sounds very faint. I recommend these to people who have small or sensitive ears.
Customer Review: Good Earplugs for Sleeping Summary: 5 Stars
Living in an apartment can be a drag depending on who you live around.
People are up all times of the day and night and it can be hard to get a good nights sleep. Fortunately you can just get these and sleep like a baby. They are made for small ear canals which make them relevantly comfortable to sleep with in your ears, especially if you're like me and sleep on your side.
I often use the same pair several nights in a row, so a big box should be able to last you literally a couple of years.
Customer Review: Good for sound control, hard to use Summary: 4 Stars
These are about the best earplugs I've used as far as sound control is concerned. However, they're a pain to use--you roll the little thing between your fingers, insert it quickly in your ear, then hold it in for about a minute. Then you smack yourself on the head (I'm not making this up). I'm not sure what the smack is for, but it's in the directions. If someone comes into the room and needs to speak to you, you have to dig the earplug out of your ear, then go through the whole business over again.
Another disadvantage is that, for my skin, they seem to be slightly irritating.
They do block sound, though. Completely.
