Tools and Hardware Reviews of Howard Leight R-01526 Impact Sport Electronic EarmuffCustomer Review: Broke after two uses Summary: 2 Stars
I used these twice and the headband snapped and made them useless. This was very disappointing.
Customer Review: Buyer Beware - go with Peltor Summary: 1 Stars
Despite the poor reviews on fit issues regretfully I purchased anyway. I wear a size 7 1/4 hat so I thought they would fit, but they didn't. They didn't sit right on my head. Best if you have a really tall head I guess. Terrible return policy (Amazon), was forced to sell them on my own. The price & battery efficiency was right but you get what you pay for. I have since bought Peltor Tac 6 S which is a far superior product. They fit like they should.
Customer Review: Buyer's remorse Summary: 1 Stars
First, these cups do hot have as much noise attenuation as a good pair of polyurethane earplugs.
Second, the cups themselves are position sensitive. When shooting rifle, I have to position the strong side cup a bit higher on my face to get a proper cheek weld. But so high on my face, the seal against noise is reduced. This means I have to wear ear plugs underneath to have a safe level of noise attenuation. With earplugs underneath, the volume can't be turned up enough that I can understand conversation. So for the conditions I most often use shooting cups for, the electronic functionality of the Howard Leights is virtually worthless.
Also, the automatic turn-off feature doesn't work on mine. So the second time I took them to the range, the batteries already were dead. By the third range session, I had gone back to using my cheapo-but-effective Wally World cups.
Customer Review: Can't go wrong with this Summary: 5 Stars
Used them on the skeet/trap range. Worked great. Low profile does not get in the way of shouldered gun. Don't believe you will be dissapointed.
Customer Review: Comfortable and do the job Summary: 5 Stars
I looked at a lot of options for ear protection on the range. I love these. My friend and I both have a pair so we can talk at regular volume without having to yell. They do exactly what they are supposed to. Wearing eye protection isn't a problem with these. Also they are slim so getting right down on a rifle is far easier than with the standard type of ear muffs.
I also recently bought a house and have used them extensively for the remodeling process for everything from using hammers in closets to running a shop vac. Very nice to just plug in the ipod and enjoy some tunes while keeping my ears from ringing. There is a slight hiss in the right ear when using the ipod but its not a deal breaker and may be the cable as well which is on the cheaper side (came with the ear protectors)
Highly recommended.
