Tools and Hardware Reviews of Howard Leight R-01526 Impact Sport Electronic EarmuffCustomer Review: Compact and does the job Summary: 4 Stars
It works as advertised. Its comfortable and it does cutout noise once sounds reaches the cutoff dba. It even has a port to plug in your ipod. The music/audio port works but it's not like a true head set. The gain has to be turned all the way up on the ipod and same for the earmuff to hear the music. I don't have any other electronic earmuffs to compare this one against but it probably is a good set to start with and is not bad for the price. With that said, I probably won't upgrade from this one for awhile.
Customer Review: Company purchase Summary: 5 Stars
Great investment for our CCW company. So easy to wear, so easy to hear each instructor and students when wearing them, so easy to talk to students when wearing these on the firing range.
Customer Review: DISAPPOINTMENT Summary: 1 Stars
Reason for purchase: Last deer season in MN I tried a pair of your Impact Sports Ear Muffs tha a friend of mine had purchased a few years ago. That pair had high amplification and a cutoff which could be activated by a clap of my hands.
My pair of Impact Sports Ear Muffs has much less amplification and a cutoff so high that I could not detect it even when shooting a .22 revolver.
Is my pair of Impact Sports Ear Muffs defective? I really like the low profile of the muffs.
Why is my pair of Impact Sports Ear Muffs so much less sensitive to sound level and so much higher in sound cutoff level than my friend's pair?
Customer Review: Decent Ear Protection Summary: 4 Stars
Compared to high priced alternatives, these represent excellent value. A great product which I have used with several calibre firearms including 30-06 with great results. Thin, lightweight, good product for the money. My only two minor complaints are: #1 - When wearing eye protection with the earmuffs they do not make a tight seal around the ear. I have used other brands and have not had this problem. To fix this problem, I use a set of foam ear plugs, the electronics in the earmuffs still work great even with the foam ear plugs. #2 - The included, so called "Instructions", are minimal and poorly written. Case in point, they tell you to insert the batteries into the battery compartment, period,...but don't tell you how to open the battery compartment! (Slide the lid vertically toward the headband) A little common sense goes a long way here.
Bottom line: I think they do an adequate job; and yes, the cost-effective pricing is hard to ignore.
Customer Review: Decent ear pro for the price Summary: 4 Stars
For the price these are pretty good. They obviously are not Sordin quality but for a cheap pair of electronic muffs they are worth it.
