Tools and Hardware Reviews of Hunter 34352 Care Free Humidifierplus 3-1/2-Gallon Humidifier with Exclusive Nite Glo Night Light

Customer Review: As Expected
Summary: 3 Stars

The only complaint I have is the noise of the motor when the unit is on HIGH speed. Other than that, it is just about what I expected for the price and it does what it is supposed to do.

Customer Review: Best humidifier we've ever owned.
Summary: 5 Stars

I'm shocked by all the bad reviews on here for this humidifier! We live in an extremely dry climate and it runs constantly at night. We've owned it for 2 1/2 years now. We clean it as directed and refill it every 2-3 days. The Nightglo is a nice feature with our infant daughter, and really makes a difference on the length and frequency of colds, allergies, etc. I highly recommend this one!

Customer Review: Buyer Beware
Summary: 1 Stars

I purchased this humidifier on November 10, 2009 from Amazon. This is the third one I've owned in four years. The first on quit working after two weeks of use and was replaced by Hunter. The second one lasted three years which is what I would expect from a humidifier that gets A LOT of use. Today, the one I just purchased several weeks ago today started making an awful loud groan from the fan/pump area. When I initially set it up I noticed the fan was louder than the previous ones I've owned but could live with it. This "groan" is very unsettling. I will be calling Hunter ASAP and demand a replacement. This has the potential to be an excellent humidifier IF it were more durable.

UPDATE: Called Hunter today 01/06/2009 and told them of my problem. The young lady I spoke with asked if I have been cleaning the unit regularly and I replied "yes, I empty out the tray weekly and rinse it out with cool tap water." She replied "OH, you are cleaning it too often...Hunter doesn't want you to clean it more often than every 4-6 weeks." My jaw dropped!!! I told her that the water takes on an odor after a couple of weeks from cooking and such. Essentially a humidifier like this style cleans the air and the leaves the water contaminated. She stated "No, the plastic is treated to kill bacteria and that she personally owns two and has never had a problem with not cleaning her units. I was flabbergasted and just told her to send my replacement unit ASAP. She then said they are on backorder until the 19th of January. Disgusted by this company I said fine. I'll NEVER buy Hunter ANYTHING again.

Customer Review: Defective right out of the box
Summary: 1 Stars

Just took it out of the box and set it up for the first time. It's broken right out of the box. The humidistat is defective and will not allow the machine to turn on. My dry-as-the-desert apartment has an actual humidity level of 25%, but the humidistat on this machine claims the air has a greater than 80% humidity level. (If my apartment had 80% humidity in December, I wouldn't be buying a humidifier!) The machine is designed to only work through the automatic humidity setting -- you can't just turn it on and off. So there's no way to override this error.

Now I have to go through the hassle of re-packaging it and sending it back -- and paying for the shipping! Thank you Hunter, for the hassle, expense, and inconvenience. Save yourself the trouble and look elsewhere.

Customer Review: Do NOT, repeat NOT, buy
Summary: 1 Stars

This humidifier is a real lemon and the company knows it because you cannot get anyone to answer their 800 number or the 901-248-2222 number at their Memphis service department. I bought the unit just before Xmas and it only worked for a week or ten days before it started short cycling (ON for 15 seconds, OFF for 15 seconds. After carefully following the instructions in the owners manual I plugged it in and reset the cycle time to 3. I turned on the fan to high and it ran for about 15 seconds and quit. Two more attempts to follow the instructions resulted in the same experience. I now have no humdifier and cannot get the attention of the Hunter Fan Company. I am cancelling my order with Amazon and letting them handle the problem. I wish them luck while I buy another company's humidifier.
