Tools and Hardware Reviews of Hunter 44360 Set and Save 7-Day Programmable ThermostatCustomer Review: I love it Summary: 5 Stars
I was thinking of installing a programmable thermostat but was intimidated by the wiring. I finally did it and it was really easy. Wiring (4 wires) worked exactly as in instructions. Easy to program. Works great so far. Strongly recomend.
Customer Review: I'm Loving This Summary: 5 Stars
First, installation was a bit of a challenge, because I have a SINGLE VALVE REVERSING HEAT PUMP (apparently). My a/c unit and existing thermostat are both 20 years old. My buddy who does a/c helped me with some wiring that I had to do a little differently because of this. The instructions did touch on this scenario, but he had me do something that the instructions didn't even cover. While this was potentially a big problem, the solution I'm sure exists on the internet somewhere.
If you have a fairly new system and/or no heat pump this will not be an issue for you.
I am VERY IMPRESSED with the functionality. The programming is totally simple and FUN. Each day has 4 periods, which is the perfect amount. Also, the times of day scroll through at 10 minute increments, which again is perfect.
My favorite part is the ENERGY BUTTON on the left hand side. One press and it shows how long the system was on TODAY, then YESTERDAY, THIS WEEK, LAST WEEK, THIS YEAR. I check this everyday. My summer goal is to reduce my daily usage from 10 hours to 7 hours, which should save me $40-$50 a month.
GREAT PRODUCT, and by far the CHEAPEST 7-day programmable thermostat.
Customer Review: Install was easy, as is programming the unit Summary: 5 Stars
Works great so far. Instruction manual is detailed and, for me, well written. Lots of features, seems well made, looks nice, and a good value.
Customer Review: JUNK Summary: 2 Stars
Yes it is easy to program but it is junk. If I set the heat for 77 when the display shows 77 my heater will stay on until it goes to 78 which can take 30 minutes more and the room is boiling hottttt!!! When the digital thermometer on the table which is accurate and is 15 feet away shows the room is 73- the thermostat will show the room is 77 or sometimes 80. Then later it will show it is 75. My guess is the sensor in this unit is getting the temp from the back or the walls and not the room so it is not right. I emails hunter which said it was over a year old. OK if you are one of the biggest makers of therms in the country and you can't comp out a free unit which probably costs you $5 to make then your support sucks. I will not buy hunter as my next unit. MAYBE they work for some but this thing has always kept my heater running too long past the set temp. no thanks
Customer Review: Just The Thermostats We Needed Summary: 4 Stars
We purchased two of these thermostats to use with our baseboard hot water heat system, due to the huge increases in heating oil costs. We do not have central a/c. We work varied hours/days so we wanted the 7-day programmable model. We are very happy with how effortlessly this thermostat works, though setting it can be a bit tedious. But, once you get it where you want it, there is nothing to do but push the "home today" button when we're unexpectedly home or increase/decrease the set temperature with a quick keypad push. Overall, we are very satisfied with this unit. We do notice the "click" mentioned by another reviewer, but find that it is not objectionable. It's one of those noises that you stop hearing after awhile like any other repetitive household noise. For the price and the tighter control of your energy usage this is a good thermostat to purchase.
