I ordered this as a replacement for an old mercury thermostat. Other reviewers have said it's easy to install, and it is--I felt confident I could do it after reading through the instructions carefully, though my boyfriend wanted to try his hand at it. He had no previous experience, but he got this done quickly and perfectly. It's worked very well so far--the heat's been on for about a month now.
Pros: Very easy to install, program, and maintain. Effective at controlling temperature. Nice feature is that it will get to your programmed temperature at the time you choose, not start heating up at that time. You can set up to 4 different time periods within each day, so highly customizable.
Cons: Color is strongly off-white, making it difficult to blend in; feels a little precarious mounted into lath-and-plaster, and I am always very careful when opening the somewhat sticky and difficult control panel (you press down on the top of the panel and it swings down to reveal the controls beneath; a previous apartment of mine had a similar thermostat but the mechanism was way smoother and easier.

We wanted to cut back on costs as well as use less energy, so we researched programmable thermostats and chose this one based on the good reviews. After installing the thermostat and using it for a few days, I can say that we are VERY pleased and that it lives up to the good reviews. It came with everything needed to install as well as very detailed instructions on installation and on using the many customization features. It's tedious to set all of your daily options - I mean, you have the option of setting four different programs a day! - but after it's set, it's very easy to just let it go and you only need to hit one or two buttons to override without changing your saved settings. It also doesn't reset your features if the batteries go dead, which is good to know.Customer Review: Exactly what we were looking for...

The price was just right and everything has worked perfectly. It was easy to install and program. Recently we went on vacation and set it for 80 degrees while we were gone. We set it to reprogram to 72 degrees two hours before we were to get home. The house was nice and cool when we got back. We highly recommend this for everyone.Customer Review: Excellent Product

I love this thermostat! I live in an older home and had difficulty remembering to adjust the temperatures as needed, so bought this thermostat and absolutely love it. I installed it myself - the non-mechanical woman that I am - and even installed 4 at my office. The main feature I like about this versus others is that it has an Auto setting, allowing the thermostat to determine the need for heat or cool, which on fall days here in the south when there are cool nights and warm days is a MUST feature. Others I looked at did not have this. Another feature that was important to me was the 7 individual days programming, and up to 4 different time settings per day. It was easy to program, easy to install, and I am thrilled with this product.
