I bought two of these, one for each of the up and down zones. Installation was straight-forward and the instructions cover a lot of different scenarios regarding one's existing system to which the unit will be applied. The feature which provides for anticipating the lead time to get to a set point is clever (for example, if you have set a low temp for the night and want the house to be at a higher temp at 7:00a, the unit calculates how early it needs to get started to reach the higher temp by 7:00a, based on the actual temp in the house during the night). Also, it has convenient overrides (for example, Home Today - which puts the set point at the highest temp in the current program cycle). The Indiglo dial (like a Timex watch) is also a good enhancement for night viewing. I'm convinced that this is an valid conservation measure which can pay for itself in a reasonable time span.
Since the purchase, I have learned that some other units allow independent programming of the fan (only), so one could, for example, stir up the air in the house for a few minutes each hour without turning on the heater/AC. This should provide better economy and uniform temp in all rooms. I don't know if Hunter makes one like that, but apparently that isn't a feature of this unit. I would check into it if starting over.

It took me about 2 hours to remove and install the new one. The instruction could be better if it reminds user about the type of wiring (4/5 wires)they need to identify before removal, which caused me almost an hour to trouble shoot; otherwise, it is a decent product.Customer Review: Good for the price

No problem installing, or needing to clean any contacts as others stated earlier. Like the home override button for sure, but kicks back in to auto after midnight. Front faceplate could be a little sturdier. Will buy the touch screen next time around. Also, unit switched between winter and summer mode when was not needed, a big concern for us, with our dog home when we are at work.Customer Review: Good programmable thermostat

Got this thermostat about a month ago. I was tired of manually adjusting my old thermostat, and/or getting angry with myself when I forgot to adjust thermostat before leaving the house for the day.
I set it up three weeks ago. It works exactly as described. It can be programmed differently for all 7 days of the week, or M-F the same & Sat/Sun the same, or Sat/Sun diffently. As I work M-F, I programmed 5 days the same and the two weekend days differently.
Operation:
There are instructions on the inside of the panel on how to perform basic operations which is handy.
Programming is simply & intuitive.
Stay home override is quite simple, with only one button to touch.
Temporarily overriding temperature, is a little more complicated, in fact, right now it escapes me how to do it but on panel directions fix that.
Lastly, there is a button on the left hand side of the unit that you press to view current setting/temperature.
If you're used to an older programmable thermostat, please note this thermostat is more intelligent. When you set the temperature for a certain time, the thermostat calculates how much earlier it will need to turn on HVAC to reach that temperature. I normally sleep with heater down to 55 degrees. I originally set my new thermostat to 76 degrees at 5:30 AM - the time my alarm normally goes off. Before I realized that the thermostat would warm to 76 degrees BY 5:30, I was awakened by the heater kicking on earlier than 5:30. I woke up too early and HOT to boot. It was easily remedied by changing the time to 5:45AM!
I am very happy with this purchase. I only wish I had purchased sooner to take advantage of the heating/cooling savings.

Compared to some others, this item was well priced for the features. I like the seasonal switch over feature. It is easy to use and install.
