I bought mine last year before reading the reviews here. Luckily I haven't had any clunking or vibration from mine that some of the reviewers mentioned. Mine has been very solid and I have no complaints. I chose it for the metal blades and crossed my fingers that it would sound like the old window fan that my grandmother had upstairs where I slept many weekends during summer months. For me, it's a very soothing and sentimental sound. I don't really consider it to be loud. Just not as quiet as plastic :)Customer Review: I love this fan...

After trying several other similar fans, I have settled on this one. It looks good, appears to be solidly built and it actually has a "low speed" that doesn't sound like a jet engine getting ready to take off. There is the noise of moving air, but it isn't unpleasant or overwhelming. And then, there is the look of brushed nickel that adds value to my kitchen.
I, like many others, use amazon to do pre-purchase research, and settled on this fan before actually plugging it in. It's a great choice.
I'm sold.
Oh, did I mention the five-year warranty? Not bad.

This fan is amazing. It is my favorite fan ever, in fact. It's heavy, it looks awesome, and it blows in a good way. A previous reviewer has commented on how, when on oscillating mode, it can "click" rather loudly -- and I noticed that mine does this sometimes as well -- but it is not annoying enough to return it for another one. Yet if it was that annoying, the point is that I *would* return it for another of the same fan, rather than look at a different brand or model.
It's made in the USA, and if anyone reading this is as sick as I am with certain overseas products that were only meant to last a year, maybe two, this fan will technically pay for itself in a year, maybe two -- and keep on producing.

I just bought this fan today. I bought it because of the cool "classic" look it was going for and the floor model felt well-made and heavy. It is hot today in LA, and I have it full blast. It is not an air conditioner, but it does what it does relatively well without too much noise. [...], but the design of this thing looks solid.
