Customer Review: Excellent storage solution for the garage

Sturdy but not as sturdy as I expected. However, does appear to be easily cabaple of holding the 250 pound weight limit.
Relatively easy to install, although did take longer than estimated 1 hour. I bought two units, first one took about 2 hours and second unit took about 1.5 hours. Hardest part is locating studs.

The storage is pretty good and very strong; finding the stud and measuring are the most challenging part. It is not a big deal for me, since I am not new to this kind of job. The most disappointing part was finding one of the braces that dont have a holes in it.
The steel brace was relatively thick, so I have to go to a hardware store to buy an electric drill and metal bit to add the holes myself. Holes because there are two holes on each end, and one of the ends are missing holes. I just hope that hardware store is open because today is holiday (labor day)
I hate to think that Hyloft ship the product anyway knowing that these important holes are missing. Because, if you bought it already it is more a hassle to send it back than putting the holes yourself, plus the fact that you have to wait, and explain what is the problem. This is an example of a lousy Quality assurance. So I am putting the holes myself. My rating would have been 5 star if not for this. If a regular and NOT a handy guy bought this and encounter this same proble, he would have been so frustrated and would return it, and if you do; you would blow your weekend project.
I bought two of this storage system and one of them is fine.

I installed this in a small garage with little storage over my car and it is fantastic! I installed two side by side and am able to store alot of stuff.... my only thing is remembering to protect my trunk when opening it from hitting the HyLoft but that's my problem!Customer Review: Fantastic!!

I bought 3 of them. I first bought 8ft 2x4's (and painted them white) and some heavy duty screw bolts and washers and mounted the 2x4's to the ceiling on my garage so I could position these perfectly and it worked out perfectly. it took me about 2 hours to mount the 2x4's and the storage racks by myself (not that easy). My garage is now clutter free and I, and my wife, love that. Wish I had more stuff just so i could put it up in the racks :)Customer Review: Finally organized the Christmas decorations, holds a lot!

Waited for a friend who can read directions to help me install these, and it went smoothly and quickly. I agree that finding the studs was the hardest part, and we ended up installing one system facing one direction, and another system facing the other way, since our ceiling studs changed direction halfway across the garage ceiling (never noticed that until we put these up!). Even so, these give you the flexibility to screw up the installation and still remain secure and sturdy.
Could not fit these over our garage door, not enough clearance, so we put them along the wall, towards the back of the garage. Still great for getting junk off the floor thats infrequently used, like holiday decorations and mementos.
Directions were easy enough to follow when your helper is an engineer, but I think I could install another one on my own having helped do these two. Can be done by 1 person, but it will be a lot of up-and-down the ladder getting all the different parts. All in all, a great product for the chronic pack rat without a basement!
