This set absolutely rocks. I am at that age when reading glasses are necessary (don't laugh; you'll get there if you're lucky), Trying to get an accurate freehand measurement within 1/16th of an inch is tough enough, much less repeatable accuracy.
With this set, you can't miss. Find the right slot, which is easy as they are staggered, and you can make repeatable marks that are probably accurate to within 1/100th of an inch. Further, indexing the rule on a mark (when you're measuring something longer than the rule) is just as accurate -- slide the rule over the mark until it appears in the appropriate slot.
An interesting artifact of using these rules is that you wind up leaving a little bit of pencil marking around the slots you use. This can be wiped off, but when you're making repetitive markings on several pieces of wood (say, marking out multiple stiles or multiple table legs), you don't even have to look for the numbers, just for the darker slot.
