Tools and Hardware Reviews of Imak Products Smart Glove Wrist Support Reversable - Size MediumCustomer Review: Definitely helps with my carpal tunnel Summary: 5 Stars
As a preface to this comment, I have carpal tunnel and cubital tunnel in both arms/wrists and thoracic outlet syndrome, all of which I've had for periods ranging from 6 months to 3 years, so I'm no stranger to ergonomic devices and hold them to extremely high and stringent standards.
I used to leave work every day with extremely numb wrists/palm bases, but these wrist supports, with their micro-bead palm rests, conform to the shape of my palm and distribute the force the desk exerts on them much more evenly and comfortably. I still leave work with slightly numb wrists and palm bases, but it's made a marked difference in severity. I would highly recommend this to anyone with OR WITHOUT wrist problems - they're comfortable, breathable, and will really help to alleviate some of the RSI symptoms associated with typing.
Customer Review: Effective product. Summary: 5 Stars
My job involves constant use of the computer. I was experiencing worsening wrist pain when I decided to try the SmartGlove. I combined this with a the Evoluent vertical mouse. Both the glove and the mouse (especially the mouse) took a little getting used to. Results were not immediate, but the wrist pain was almost completely gone several weeks later, and has not regressed after neary a year. I can't say for sure which has had the greater effect, so I would recommend getting both. If there is one negative with the SmartGlove, it is that your hand, and the glove, can get a little sweaty if it is warm in your office. However, mine has gone through numerous machine washings, and has retained its size, shape, and firmness throughout. Whatever remedy you decide to try, don't put it off - I wish I had acted earlier.
Customer Review: Fits great; however,... Summary: 3 Stars
This item does exactly what it is supposed to do. However, the bead cushion got in my way. I was unable to use it efficiently at work. Maybe it'll do what you need it to do.
Customer Review: Fits nicely, works better than metal types Summary: 4 Stars
I had the standard carpal tunnel gloves with the metal piece in it, they didn't seem to help much. This one really seems to help, and I have no pain if I wear at all times on PC. I am on a PC basically all day and night (I work on PC and play on PC). It's also nice that it slips right on instead of velcro. I recommend.
Customer Review: Helps me relieve pain in my wrist Summary: 4 Stars
I'm a young professional programmer and admittedly my wrists didn't begin to hurt until I started playing video games for an extended period of time (read:Starcraft 2). I purchased the Smart Glove because I began to experience pain in my wrists even after I was not at the computer. Plain and simple for me, the glove immobilizes my wrists just enough to discourage incorrect wrist positions and the bean bag elevates my wrist appropriately. I now wear the glove to work and when I'm playing video games. I feel no pain and I'm at the computer 12+ hours a day.
Pros:
- Bean bag under wrists at a perfect height to align my wrist with my mouse so I'm not flexing my wrist at an odd angle causing pain. The mouse I'm using is a Logitech Performance MX darkfield. The mouse has a higher profile than most which may be the reason it fits so well.
- Glove is nice and snug. I'm wearing a small because... well I have small hands. I would recommend that you find your size. My glove doesn't slide around and the bean bag is never out of position.
- The splint at the top is firm but not flimsy. It allows for flexibility like other users have commented. I do not wish it to be more stiff because I prefer the flexibility and it's firm enough to discourage unwanted wrist position
- Reversible!
Cons:
- I anticipate this guard to break down after a year like the other users have commented. Perhaps a more durable material can be placed below the bean bag to increase its life. However, for $10 per wrist it's silly not to wear one because it prevents further nerve damage. $10 is my copay for a doctor's visit.
- It only comes in black. No tiger print, hot pink, or sky blue colors. Meh.
TL;DR
My wrists do not hurt after wearing this guard
