Tools and Hardware Reviews of InSinkErator Evolution Essential 3/4 HP Household Food Waste DisposerCustomer Review: A quiet beast Summary: 5 Stars
I recently replaced the 8-year-old 1/3 HP disposer that was originally under the kitchen sink with this 3/4 HP unit. The install went smoothly, and was probably a bit simpler than normal since I also replaced the kitchen sink at the same time; so I had easy access to the bottom. Everything I needed was included in the box except for some plumber's putty and a power cord, which I took off of the old unit. Since the old unit was also from InSinkErator, the power cord included the strain-relief clamp so I just re-used that too.
As far as the size goes, this is larger than the old 1/3 HP unit; but not as much larger as I thought it would be. Overall, everything that fit beneath the sink before still fits so the size hasn't been an issue at all. Not that it really matters under the sink, but the disposer also looks great:).
When it comes to performance, this disposer is amazing! It isn't silent, but it's a lot quieter than any other disposer we've ever owned. It has plenty of capacity for a 5 person family - it chews through everything from potato skins and orange peels to ice quickly and without a complaint. I can't believe we waited so long to replace our old disposer!
We also considered getting the lower-capacity 'compact' Evolution model from InSinkErator, but I'm glad we went with this one. On the other hand, if you have limited space or don't need the higher capacity then the compact would probably make more sense - especially since it has the same power.
Overall, I highly recommend this disposer.
Customer Review: Best deal for the price Summary: 5 Stars
This disposal system I thought was the best value for the price. There is one model up that is about 100 more dollars and much bigger, the only advantage is it is a little quieter. I notice this particular model is quiet enough. Especially if you bought a cookie cutter house and replacing the base model Badger!
Good:
Easy to install
Very quiet
Reduces vibration also
Room for improvement:
You can install yourself, but it is heavy so make sure everything is lined up just right.
Cost may be much for some, but if you need quiet in your house (like say to not wake a baby up) then this is the model for you.
Customer Review: Easy to install, quiet Summary: 4 Stars
Very easy to install because I was replacing an ISE Pro 333. I am not a plumber but the installation was very straightforward--just don't forget the plumber's tape. The one downside is that this thing is very heavy, so if you aren't comfortable throwing around 25 pounds, you might have trouble doing the installation.
The unit is much quieter than the Pro 333.
Customer Review: Effective and quiet Summary: 5 Stars
What can I say? Its a food disposer. But, this is InSinkErator's 2nd best model and it is way cheaper than at the retail stores. Unless you want to spend 400 bucks at the retail stores for one, this is the best one you can get! It is extremely quiet and does its job well.
Customer Review: Fantastic but Excel is Little Better Summary: 5 Stars
Replaced two Badger V units with one Essential and one Excel at the same time. Both are fantastic units but if you have the extra $ grab the Excel. The Excel is a little quieter with the downside being that the housing is larger. Extremely pleased with the performance of each. With running water you can barely tell when either unit is operational.
