Installed this a week ago, and love this one way more than the 20-year-old 3/4HP In-sink-erator that died. MDH insists we need a backup alarm of sorts to let us know it is still running. Really! We have never ground up bones or fruit rinds, just residue from dishwasher & sink. Used ice cubes as a test and worked really well.
Installation was a breeze, once I figured out the baffle went in from the top, rather than over the disposal opening like the old one. Read the excellent instructions all the way to the end would be my only advice. Literally untwisted the old one, twisted in the new one and cut the new pipe, as this one is larger than the old one, in diameter. Love it!

It took my husband and I less than 2 hours to install this ourselves, including having a hard time getting the old one out, having to replumb the drain pipe, and cleaning up(and we have NO plumbing experience.)We are very pleased with how quiet it runs, and our cabinets no longer shake when we use this one!!!!Customer Review: Quiet, yes. It's quiet. Quieter than I expected. It works fine. Oddly, it does not come with an electrical cord (explain that), so you might need a plumber as well as an electrician to install it if you can't do it yourself. I do not know why these things are so big, however. Waste disposers have been around for how many years? You'd think that they'd have figured that one out by now.Customer Review: Quietly Effective

I bought this in part because of the low noise level touted in other reviews and it did not disappoint. It's incredibly quiet. The contractor who remodeled our kitchen thought it wasn't working when he first turned it on. The water from the faucet nearly covers the sound completely. Of course, anything would be an improvement over the old disposal, which sounded as though it would tear itself to pieces every time we used it. But this is just amazing.
And it does a great job of grinding up stuff too.
