Tools and Hardware Reviews of Indus-Tool CL Cozy Legs Flat-Panel 150-Watt Radiant Heater

Customer Review: Adequate Kotatsu heater
Summary: 4 Stars

I wanted to make my own homemade Kotatsu, but as a grad student, I found myself on a tight budget... hello, Cozy Legs.
Trust me, this is way cheaper than having a $200 Kotatsu heater shipped from Japan...

My formula:
I had a secondhand low coffee table from Ikea. I connected this Cozy Legs heater to the underside of said table, but the sticky Velcro tabs that were provided were not strong enough to hold the weight of the heater upside down. I wrapped a thick yarn around the table top/heater, then threw a comforter on top. And.. voila! A cheap, do-it-yourself-in-NY-on-a-budget Kotatsu!

Note:
You should not cover any heater with any material. I am taking my chances since (as other raters have mentioned) the heat isn't nearly as intense as other units out there. This heater is also not intended to be flipped upside down, so no blaming... anybody... if something explodes.

Pros:
In an enclosed space, the heater does its job. It's "better" on frigid days, when there is a marked difference in temperatures from the outside/inside.

Cons:
How come those sticky Velcro pads are so weak? If one is dishing out $55 on a heating unit, then they should at least include some decent Velcro power.
Also- if you want a HOT heater, then this unit is not for you.

In conclusion:
If you are looking to make a cheap, not too hot Kotatsu in America, and you don't mind having the oh-so-classy "tie the heater to the table" affair, then get this. Its worth it. And buy a nice blanket to cover the yarn.

Customer Review: Barely any heat
Summary: 1 Stars

Tired of overzealous space heaters putting out too much heat even on low, I was excited to find this produce. It advertises radiant heating, which will heat the objects around them, but will not burn when touched.

What a lie. My feet are currently less than four centimeters away from this product, and are still ice cold. If I move them onto the product, they get burned. The product is also being used in a COMPLETELY enclosed space (underneath a table with a tablecloth to the floor). Although this is not recommended due to the risk of overheating and fire, considering it cannot even warm my feet in these conditions, I cannot believe the risk of fire is very high.

The heat stays centralized to the device, does not warm surrounding objects as advertised.

Customer Review: Barely puts out heat
Summary: 2 Stars

It delivers what is advertised, but few people (including myself) actually realize how much heat 100W is.

It basically takes a 100W light bulb and spreads the energy across a 3x2 ft panel. It will raise the temp under your desk a degree or two, but if you are expecting "radiant" heat, you need to look elsewhere.

Customer Review: COZY LEGS RADIANT HEATER
Summary: 5 Stars

We purchased this radiant heater for safe and steady warmth for Rusty, our 18 year-old cat. We have been using it for several weeks, and have found it to be satisfactory thus far. Rusty appears to be enjoying it, as he spends almost the entire day in his bed in front of it. We can reduce the heat output from the furnace at night, knowing that Rusty will still be comfortable.

Customer Review: Cold legs be gone.
Summary: 5 Stars

Our desk sits between a large window and a sliding door. During the winter a cold draft slides down from them into the leg space and it really bugs her. So I set this Christmas present up and now she's very happy. No noise, no smell, no danger. Gotta love it!
