I was looking for a low watt heater. That's what I chose the Cozy Legs Radiant Heat Panel. I had to return it: only when in direct contact to its surface could I feel any warmth. I purchased instead the Newair AH-400 Space Heater (400 watt) which does a good jobCustomer Review: Parakeets like it

I bought this to place on one side of a parakeet cage, with a cloth covering the other four sides. I didn't want to heat my whole house or run a high wattage space heater while I was away at work during the winter.
Total success for this purpose, at about $100 less than the same item in different packaging sold through pet supply sites.

Update - 1-8-2010 -- There is a way to use this so that it is somewhat effective. One needs to turn it on about an hour before needing it. If the panel is located under your desk, so that it's in a relatively enclosed area, and if it's allowed to heat the air there for an hour or so, it does indeed help with the chill. It's not great, but it is a help. I would now give it three stars rather than the two of the first review.

I should have paid more attention to J. Tunnell's review. It is spot on. This panel delivers very little heat. I once had a panel that delivered more and assumed this one would be similar. So read J. Tunnell's review at least twice. Believe it. If you then order this, you've only yourself to blame.

I bought this item because I needed something to help keep my hens warm in the coop at night when it is really cold out. I ordered it and had it send overnight from Amazon and upon opening the package I noticed that the instructions were in Chinese which was a put off to begin with. I plugged the item in and saw the orange light come on and waited.. nothing, no heat, or warmth. I waited an hour longer thinking that maybe it needed to warm up and again, nothing.
Very disappointed with this product, theres going to be a chill this weekend and now I am stuck without a heater!
