Tools and Hardware Reviews of Intermatic EJ500C Indoor Digital Wall Switch Timer

Customer Review: A great little gizmo!
Summary: 4 Stars

I ordered this timer to control my porch light and the lights on each side of my garage. Installation instructions were complete and easy to follow. I agree that the screen is a little hard to see, but its not a big deal. Here is a good tip....program the timer first thing. Then install. It is way easier to set it up while holding it in your hand then to mess with it when it is in the wall.

Turns on my outside lights at 5:00pm. Turns them off at 1:15am. Awesome.

Customer Review: Almsot Perfect Product
Summary: 4 Stars

I installed one of these last October to control seven 50W incandescent downlights across the front of my house and I love it - great "welcoming" and "somebody's home" effect automatically. Works like a charm, no problems. I suggest that it be programmed BEFORE being installed in the wall because the LED isn't backlit and the buttons are a bit small for my fat fingers. Once programmed, it's worked great.

We love the automatic adjustment for "on at sunset" (we only have them come on at night, programming different off-times for different days) and we set the clock 15 minutes early to have them come on before actual sunset due to the heavy shading on the west side of our house.

Now that they are starting to burn out, I'm going to replace the 50W incandescents with 14W CFL (2,700 Kelvin) bulbs (in all except one to keep them from flickering) as suggested above.

Customer Review: Amazingly accurate
Summary: 5 Stars

Installed for outside lighting comprised of two carriage lights and a front porch flood, all of which are GE energy saving (florescent)outdoor bulbs. All come on at sundown and go off at sun-up so reliably that I added a second unit to my back porch lights. Installation was very easy, although programing can be a little trying the first time. All in all it is a lot of bang for the buck!

Customer Review: Avoid, unless you enjoy torturing yourself

SO glad I came here to read these reviews. I thought we were the only family that can't program this STUPID timer. Convoluted instructions, SO many steps! It's evil and shouldn't be allowed in anybody's home! GRRRRR.

Customer Review: BUYER BEWARE! WILL NOT WORK WITH CFLs
Summary: 1 Stars

The product description fails to inform that this product will not work with compact fluorescent lights, and Amazon puts the reviews that warn customers of this fact off to the side. Wish I'd read all the reviews. Now it's too late to return it because I didn't get around to installing it until after the return period has expired. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY. DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT.
