Tools and Hardware Reviews of Intermatic EJ500C Indoor Digital Wall Switch TimerCustomer Review: Great Product!! Summary: 5 Stars
The astrological feature is superb! It adjusts to the changing time of the setting sun according to the location you live without a photoelectric mechanism. This feature a big plus since I no longer have keep adjusting the time during the changing seasons and daylight savings time. I owned the mechanical version of this timer a few years back but it tends to lasts about 2-3 years and I constantly have to reset the time. Because its digital, there are no moving parts, reliability is big improvement. It blends in beautifully with the Decora and Lutron Maestro dimmers I have thoughout my home. A bit complicated to program though.
Customer Review: Great Switch Summary: 5 Stars
I am completely satisfied with the EJ500C switch. The Lutron brand was
over 20 dollars more expensive and this switch functions just like it.
Easy to install, moderately easy to program, and it fits perfectly into
a deep standard wall switch.
Customer Review: Great in wall timer! Summary: 5 Stars

for wall timer.
Customer Review: Great product Summary: 5 Stars
I had one of these already and just installed one for a friend. I have seen complaints that the instructions are hard to follow, the display is hard to read, etc. My advice: read thru the instructions first, and get out your magnifying glass if you need to. It's worth the trouble. This is a "smart" timer that will turn your lights on at sunset and/or off at sunrise -- and will automatically adjust those times thru the year. I programmed mine and the friend's to go on at sunset and off at 11:00 pm or midnight. If you mess up when you program it, it can be a little tricky backing up or starting over. Other than that, I had no problems. Yes, the display is small, but once you have programmed it, you never have to look at it again.
The specifications say not to use it with small-based candelabra bulbs, but I did anyway, and it seems to work fine. I think you need to make sure your lights have a total of at least 40 watts, though.
GE makes a similar "smart" timer, and I bought that one first when I couldn't find this one locally, but there's nothing "smart" about the GE. It doesn't have the sunset/sunrise feature, and I took it back.
Customer Review: Great timer ! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought (and installed) this timer for a neighbor and I did it with confidence given that I have two of my own. It's a great design with compact form factor and very flexible.
The following are some things to consider:
- the programming can be a little complex for the faint of heart but if you just follow the directions you can do it. And once it's done once you should never have to touch it
- the letters on the display are tiny so get out your headlamp and glasses - but except for programming it you really never have to look at the display
I love this product and the Amazon price can't be beat and even the shipping is not too bad.
