This is perfect for using on your Christmas tree lights (plug is against the wall, but this makes the on/off switch accessible without crawling under tree). I have a couple similar models from this company and they have all worked great with no problems so far. It does take odd batteres (LR44/SR44); they are expensive at the drugstore, but you can easily find them cheap online.
Note: the light/appliance you plug into this thing plugs into the end of the plug, not to the timer body itself.

This works very well, and I needed something that would handle a new fluorescent bulb as the electronic timers do not work with these. This does, and does have the battery backup I wanted. Fits easliy on the nightstand near the bed, and most likely will order several more.
Shipping was super fast.

I bought this timer to turn a light on and off at specific times of the day - a task for which it is extremely well suited.
Only Complaints....
Only accepts two prong plugs.
You have to have an end time for whatever appliance you want turned on and off. You can't just say turn on at 11, you also have to specify when it should turn off (not a big deal for most things but it can be inconvenient)
Unit is easy to use and read. Slightly pricier than other timers but I would definitely recommend it.
