Do not purchase this product. Closeout Master shipped me this item twice and both arrived and didn't work. I finally just asked for a refund. Closeout Master had excellent customer service but can't control whether the product works or not.
Regardless, this is not a good product.

Consumer reports compared the ionic breeze to cleaners with fans. Naturally,
those cleaners will clean the air faster because the dust is circulated
into the cleaner by the fan. The problem is that causing more dust to circulate is
the worst thing for a person with allergies. The ionic breeze does not
increase the dust in the air you breathe by stirring it up. When people
walk in the room the stir the dust up naturally and then the ionic breeze
catches it. So it works better than in the isolated environment CR tested it in. Consumer reports did not realize that people with allergies
will suffer when dust is stirred up by a fan. That is why people with allergies suffer when a house has hot air heat, as opposed to baseboard
or radiators.

I've had this product for at least 5 years now . I bought one iconic breeze. I liked it so much I bought another. The second one was a newer model in which the covers came off for a more thorough cleaning (nice). My newer model died as a result of a lightning storm. I think I need a new power supply, but can't find out how or where to replace it. I still have it hoping one day to get it repaired.
I bought another iconic breeze to replace the one damage by lightning. I've had that one for 3 years now.
A week or two after I plugged in my first unit, I started dusting, and there was no dust. I was puzzled as to why - there is always dust. Then I remembered I had an iconic breeze in the room.
They work GREAT. But you MUST CLEAN THEM EVERY WEEK. Cleaning is EASY and quick. Every time I clean mine I am surprised to see the amount of dust (or whatever it is) on the silver plates. Also the amount of dust on the plates depends on the location of the iconic breeze in your home and the room size. the one I have in the living room is the (the older model) does not collect as much dust as the one I have in my bedroom.
One time I had a crackling sound problem with the newer model. I not only cleaned the silver plates, but I wiped down the inside. I took a damp paper towel and cleaned the black vertical things and also very gently cleaned the wires - no more crackling sound.
You also need to be sure the plates are thoroughly dry before replacing them, if not you will get a hissing or cracking sound when turning on the unit.
My daughter has 2 of these units at her house and has had no problem. She has had hers for 3 years now. She has animals so the units keep the air fresh smelling (to a degree, you need to be reasonable about what it can do).
The iconic breeze helps with dust and clean air. Notice I said it helps - it is not going to make an entire room dust free; you have to be realistic.
By the way, prior to purchasing my first iconic breeze, I had a hepa-filter air cleaner (price around $160 or more). It was noisy and expensive to replace the filter every year (about $80.00). I keep it for two years, then got sick of the expensive hepa filter replacements and the noise! That's when I purchased an iconic breeze. It is totally silent (at first I thought it wasn't working because I didn't hear anything when I first plugged it in, but then I felt the gentle air flow). When comparing the cost per year of the hepa filters to the iconic breeze, over time the icon breeze is cheaper.
I feel Sharper Image got a bum rap from Consumer Reports on this product. It is a shame the Consumer Reports article was eventually responsible for putting Sharper Image out of business. I'm glad to see that the product is still available. I think it is a great product.

IVE HAD ONE OF THE SHARPERIMAGE AIR FILTERS IN THE PAST ORDERED THIS FROM SEBASTIAN SAA IN DENVER RECEIVED A DIRTY NONWORKING USED ONE TOOK WEEKS TO GET A REPLACEMENT HAD TO CALL SEVERAL TIMES SO PRODUCT OK SERVICE TERRIBLE OH COST WAS ABOUT THE SAME AS THE ONE I BOUGHT BY TELEPHONE FROMSHARPER IMAGE CATALOG ABOUT 5 YEARS AGOCustomer Review: Loud machine. The thing works for few months before it starts buzzing. I called customer service. They won't replace it unless you do all they asked you to do, such as shaking the whole machine, using the hair dryer to blow dry the insert, wipe everything clean...... which were very unprofessional. They came with 5-year warranty. Within 3 years, I have been through 5 replacements, and none of any last for over 6 months. It made buzzing sound all the time! After fifty replacement, they said they can't replace the machine for me any longer even with 5-year warranty!! Don't be fooled by Sharper Image. I will never buy anything from them!
