Seems everyone either loves or hates these Ionic breeze gadgets.
I've owned one of the new Quardras for a few months now.
1. Every time I clean it the plates are covered with dust and soot.
2. It's dead quiet.
I suspect a fan driven system could in fact perform better, but considering the dead-silence and the fact that the Quadra absolutely does collect airborne "stuff", I'm happy with it.
More "CFM" would be nice, but not at the expense of more noise.

I bought two of these units. One stopped working while it was still under warranty so I contacted sharper image to see about getting it fixed. They informed me that it was no longer covered because of new investors or something so I pretty much got screwed. I wouldn't buy one again and I surely wouldn't buy from sharper image again. I did leave negative feedback on their website but they must delete bad reviews because when I looked a few weeks later it was gone. I'm more disappointed in them than the product.Customer Review: Still work great after 6 years

I purchased two of these units directly from The Sharper Image 6ish years ago after being diagnosed with a dust mite allergy. After I purchased them, I read what Consumer Reports had to say, but was shocked, especially given that I have subscribed to Consumer Reports for 20 years. This is what I do know. I am allergic to dust mites and dogs. Dust mites are a part of life, and I love dogs, have had dogs for 15 years. I have one unit next to my bed, the other in my living room. The dust level in my house decreased dramatically after turning these machines on, and my allergy symptoms decreased dramatically after turning these machines on. They have been running continuously (except during cleanings) for over six years now, and I've never had a problem. One of my neighbors has one for his son who has major allergies, and it has made a big difference for him. The other thing he uses it for; poker parties! He moves the unit into the game room, and they smoke cigars. Within 24 hours you absolutely cannot smell any cigar smoke in that room or the rest of the house.Customer Review: Stopped working after 2 months!

I bought this from Deals4U about 2 months ago, it worked great then out of the blue just stopped working...Would NOT recommend this product. I am going to go to Best Buy, Bed Bath & Beyond or some place like that to buy one I can return if it stops working! It just came in today as an addition to my 2 other Ionic Breeze units. The product description says it's a new unit, but i definitely doubt that, because the inside was full of collected dust!
After reading a review here that someone received a dirty unit I just had to open it up and check. Voila! I'm one of the unlucky ones. It was in a sealed bag and everything, just how the new ones look like. The pull out collector grid itself was clean, but the other two fixed one inside and the rest of the internals was thickened with dust, just how it would look like when it's being used.
I don't mind just cleaning it and going on with my life, but it's the damn principle that bugs me! I paid for a brand new unit and i should deserve nothing less! I am about to contact the seller for an exchange so we'll see how it goes.
And you would think that if it was refurbished the manufacturer would do a better job of cleaning the thing!!! I also wonder if the seller knowingly sells it as a brand new unit even though they know it's not.
