Great paper towel holder. This is the first paper towel holder that advertises one-handed towel tear off that actually works! The only thing that would make it perfect would be to spring load the little rod that holds the free end of the paper towel so that it holds the loose end of the roll up against the roll.
However, Everything else is great. It doesn't slide on the counter. The rolls fit on without unscrewing anything. Nice brushed stainless finish. The ratchet system lets you easily tear of a single towel with one hand.

This paper towel holder not only has been a welcome addition to our kitchen, it is a relief to have finally found one that works so well. I think this might be at least either the 4th or 5th holder we've tried over a period of years. A couple of holders kept falling over. A couple were too complicated. This one fits in comfortably (we didn't need a paper towel holder that made a statement!), keeps standing, holds the big rolls (I don't know what the other person who said it didn't hold the big rolls was writing about ... maybe it has been updated?), and the dispenser mechanism actually works. The rolls slide right on and off. For a variety of reasons we need to use a lot of paper towels in our home, so it is a great relief to finally have a holder we consider to be a keeper. We've had a wall mounted Kamenstein Perfect Tear paper towel holder which has worked wonderfully almost two years. Like others have reported, the plastic ratcheting mechanism on our paper towel holder recently broke (the plastic spider with 4 spokes had two spokes broken off). I'm not sure if just the broken spider could be replaced, but if so, it would be a relatively easy fix.
I wrote to the Kamenstein folks (Lifetime Brands), and asked if I could get replacement parts for the one that is broken. they want me to send the paper towel holder to them (at my expense), and they will replace it. They said to be sure to include tracking with my shipment to them. They mentioned that replacement can take 4 to 6 weeks.
Our towel holder is in the kitchen by the sink, and gets usage several times a day. After looking at the ratcheting mechanism, I don't see any way that the plastic ratcheting assembly will not break, even with only mild usage.

I LOVE LOVE this paper towel holder. I've been searching all my life for something like this that actually works! The only negative is that it's so fun to tear the towels, I sometimes tear off more than I need. You need to buy this product.
