Tools and Hardware Reviews of Kidde KN-COEG-3 Nighthawk Plug-In Carbon Monoxide and Explosive Gas Alarm with Battery Backup

Customer Review: False alarms
Summary: 1 Stars

It's 1AM and it just went off due to a false alarm, this is the second time it has happened in a few months.

Customer Review: False alarms all the time
Summary: 2 Stars

... cannot use hair spray, spray cleaner near this. I rarely use hairspray, but on those occasions I do, I either have to go down to the garage (3 flights) or close the door of the bedroom that is on the same level as the alarm and spray my hair at the window. Normally I could live with this, but my dog is sometimes alone and this thing really freaks her out when we ARE home with her and the thing goes off.

Customer Review: False alarms like everyone else: GAS
Summary: 1 Stars

This is the worst product in the history of products. Like so many others, I would get false gas alarms for no reason. I called the gas company and they didn't detect any leaks.

Kidde better do something about this. People are unplugging these darned devices and since they're probably sold by the thousands, it may lead to some fatalities.

Customer Review: False alarms!
Summary: 1 Stars

I would NOT recommend this item. Like others who've written reviews, I had false alarms for explosive gas. I had the gas company come and check and they reported many reported problems with these combo detectors. He recommended just a CO detector. I threw this away and went with their recommendation. What a waste.

Customer Review: False alarms...and always in the middle of the night
Summary: 1 Stars

Like the other reviewers, the explosive gas part of the detector has given us false alarms - and always in the middle of the night! With the first false alarm, we had the gas co. come out and she said she'd seen this many times before. She said the likely culprits are air fresheners, dryer sheets, pretty much anything. Hmm, maybe it's my dog's gas that's setting if off? While natural gas is odorless, utilities add a "smell" to it so that unlike carbon monixide, you can smell it if you have a leak. Last night was the last straw, I am trashing this and getting a CO detector only!
