THIS ITEM CAME IN WITH AN EXPIRED BATTERY . IT WORKED FOR ONE WEEK AND STARTED BEEPING LOW BATTERY. I CONTACTED AMAZON TWICE AND NEVER RECEIVED A REPLY. I THINK THAT THIS ITEM, CO DETECTOR, WHICH WORKS ON BATTERY SHOULD HAVE BEEN DELIVERED WITH A BATTERY THAT WORKED FOR AT LEAST ONE YEAR NOT ONE WEEK . I HAD PURCHASED THIS ITEM BEFOR FROM A STORE AND HAD NO COMPLAINTS. I WOULD STRONGLY RECOMEND THAT THIS CO DETECTOR NOT BE PURCHASED FROM AMAZON.Customer Review: BATTERIES NOT AVAILABLE

THE UNIT WILL ALARM WHEN THE BATTERY IS ABOUT ONE YEAR OLD. IT'S PLUGGED INTO 110 VOLTS AND WILL STILL TELL YOU THE BATTERY IS BAD, EVEN WHEN IT HAS POWER. THE ONLY WAY TO SHUT THE THING OFF IS TO UN-PLUG IT. BATTERIES ARE IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND, VERY POOR MANUFACTURE FOLLOW-UP WILL NOT RECOMMEND THIS UNIT TO ANY ONE.Customer Review: BEWARE OF SHELF LIFE OF PRODUCT

I started receiving an err code on the unit earlier this afternoon. I call KIDDE...the company in the owners manual that is given to call when you receive the err code. The first question asked is what the date is on the back of the unit. Mine is stamped July 2003. The lady informed me that the sensors are only good for 6-7 years.....so my unit is longer "good". Looks like I will be replacing my unit because of this.... just wish I would have known there is only 6-7 year life span on the Nighthawk carbon monoxide detector.Customer Review: Battery

The detector works great but we spend more money replacing the 9 volt batteries every couple of months than what the actual detector cost (which was not a cheap either).Customer Review: Battery Drainer

Agree with most of the people who dislike this product. It is a battery drainer and gives a lot of false alarms. I have spent more money on 9V batteries than on the actual product.
