Of course there is no way to know if the product will actually detect Carbon Monoxide until there was actually a leak. The product itself lit right up, is clean and not unattractive. A good quality product, it was purchased as a replacement for a old Kidde plug in which had stopped working after a few years. The main advantage of this newer model unit is the battery backup feature which my older unit did not have. Easy to install. Good installation instructions. It's sitting on a bedrooms night table casting a reassuring glow. Too bad it had to be made in China.
