Customer Review: Inconsistent at Best

I wouldn't recommend this unit. It is far too sensitive to some fumes (e.g. a splash of wine in a pot of spaghetti sauce, deglazing a pan, or opening a bottle of spirits within six feet of the alarm). For these it goes off instantly. I figured I could live with this if it worked as well on natural gas, but when I finally got around to trying it with an unlit gas burner the fumes got too strong for me before the alarm ever sounded. If you need an alarm to tattle on anyone getting into the liquor cabinet, this would be a good buy.
