Tools and Hardware Reviews of LRI PWK Photon II LED Keychain Micro-Light, White BeamCustomer Review: Bought in 1999 Summary: 5 Stars
I've had this light on my keychain since about 1999 and it still works great. The little button that keeps the light on after you release it doesn't work too well after all these years but it stills lights perfectly when squeezed. If this one ever dies I am definitely going to get another one.
Customer Review: Bright but other problems with design exist. <UPDATED> Summary: 2 Stars
UPDATED BELOW
On the bright side (put intended) this is one of the brightest LED keychains I've seen.
Simply put though, the momentary switch requires so little pressure that the slightest press on the switch flashes the light. This includes other keys or pocket items pressing against the switch and lighting in your pocket. It's probably amusing to onlookers and yes, it's accidentally activated in my pocket! Hopefully nobody was around.
I thought that the off-on switch would disable this feature but it is just in parallel with the momentary switch and does not provide a full Off capability.
My opinion is that this design is similar to one I had over five years ago and many manufacturers probably discontinued that design due to these problems (Which I saw then)resulting in poor battery life. I would recommend steering away from this design and try one first at your local store before purchasing to make sure that the switch provides enough resistance to prevent accidental activation.
This one will be returned due to the design issues.
--------UPDATE------- August, 2009
I ended up keeping this light and scrapping out the LED from this one and placing it in a new "Inova CB-W Translucent Microlight" body. To make this fit you must have to file down the diameter of the LED's wires slightly to make it fit in the Inova's LED socket AND observe polarity. Otherwise, it now is my favorite keychain light and has worked for six months. You can pick up the Inova at a Target or elsewhere!
Customer Review: Bright, not a fake Summary: 5 Stars
Bright little light. Better switch than is usually found on keychain lights. Has a keychain clip (not a split ring).
Because of the warnings here about fakes I paid 30 cents more for the one "sold by Amazon" (not "fulfilled by Amazon"). I got the real thing.
Customer Review: Brightest Keychain Light Ever Summary: 5 Stars
I ordered this product to go along with my Leatherman Squirt ps4 which I love also(read my review if your interested). This light is amazing. It's lightweight, you hardly notice it at all and the clip on design is durable and easy to remove if you want. The light itself can easily light up a room and can be seen from far away. It's even bright enough to walk by through the woods or a dark road if your in a bind. Just read the product description, I will attest to it.
Customer Review: Brite lights almost blind me. LZ Summary: 5 Stars
Works great. Just what i wanted for my key-rings and the lil' clip-on attachment ring is great idea. Easy on/off of key-rings if necessary. Lite brighter than expected, which helps. Sturdy lil' piece of plastic, so far. Bulb casing exposed but does fine rattling around with keys. I happy with it.
