The very first items I put into the compost bucket were a banana peel and coffee grounds. I was leary that the charcoal filter wouldn't actually help, but it does. My kitchen doesn't smell like compost!Customer Review: Weak hinge tabs, and inconvenient design.

The lid tab has to be flexed a lot to install the lid. Although I was careful, on first installation, I broke the tab before it was flexed half enough to insert. I would want to remove the lid for cleaning each time, so this would probably happen eventually, if not the first time. I will look for something sturdier and better designed. I will add a comment about service from the supplier (Gaiam) once the return is final. ----- End of the story: Galam never received the return.Customer Review: compost bucket

The compost bucket arrived quickly in brand new condition as promised. I only wish it came with additional filters for the price. $20 seems steep for a plastic bucket, filters or not.
