Tools and Hardware Reviews of Lasko 1820 Performance 18-Inch Adjustable Oscillating Pedestal Fan

Customer Review: A very value for money fan.
Summary: 5 Stars

I never go to the fastest. It has three modes, 90 out of 100 times, the slowest mode is sufficient. Very powerful, and value for money. Highly recommended.

Customer Review: An OK pedestal fan
Summary: 3 Stars

I'd rate this fan fair. Air movement is good. The fan post rotates in the base, which is a nuisance. The vibration of the fan motor causes the fan to rotate ever so slowly. You have to reposition the fan frequently. I had to glue the post to the based to solve the problem. The fan shroud is cheap plastic, not metal. For convenience, the controls should have been mounted on the post instead of on the motor. A few years ago, most pedestal fans had metal shrouds with controls mounted on the post. It seems that quality keeps going down while prices stay about the same.

Customer Review: Awful, both of them...
Summary: 1 Stars

This is my second time writing a review for these awful fans. I guess they did not like the fist enough to post it?? They are complete garbage and not worth half the cost. Save yourself the time and aggravation and buy something with perfect ratings. One fan showed up with a broken blade (Quality control) although the box it was in was in perfect condition? The other only works if you angle it straight up at the ceiling??? And kick start the humming motor with a pencil. They are both loud and you would not want them in a bedroom unless you wanted to blow air (straight up at the ceiling and have a pencil handy. Do I even have to give them 1 star?

Customer Review: Best Pedestal Fan Ever!
Summary: 5 Stars

We use fans to augment the window air conditioners in our home, so I've owned a lot of them over the years and this one is the absolute best! First, no tools to assemble it. Second, it has it's own system of holding the front to the back - it snaps on instead of using all those plastic clips that fall off or break or get lost (one of our old fans is held together with wire, at the moment). Third, the three fan settings are just right - instead of wimpy, not quite as wimpy and tornado force. Really - low, medium and high. The oscillation is wide and they run efficiently and quietly. I love these fans. After purchasing the first one, I bought two more and I was so impressed with the brand that I bought a small table fan with which I'm equally impressed. Undoubtedly, I'll buy a couple more for the upstairs, next year. They're the best; can't recommend them highly enough!

Customer Review: Cheap construction, good air flow
Summary: 3 Stars

I got this fan because the air conditioning in the house doesn't work well in my room. And in the southern heat and humidity, cool air at night and during the day is a must. The instructions were very easy to follow. However, the construction and sturdiness of the fan is questionable. The base is not screwed into the base, but rather just sits in the hole of the base. The same goes for the motor, which just sits on top of the post. Also, the locking cap on the post doesn't work well. I thought I had it nice and tight at my desired height, but a few minutes later the fan and post dropped to the lowest setting. I had a hard time holding the fan up and tightening the cap at the same time. Also, attaching the fan cage was difficult, since it is plastic and bends easily. As for the air flow from the fan, it is okay. It moves the air well and strongly. And the fan doesn't make any noises when it oscillates. It is loud, though. I had to put it on the low setting while on the phone. I hope I can sleep with it on. The cage is attractive, looking like it has a leaf-like design. Overall, it's an okay fan. It's cheaply constructed and loud, but then I only need it for a couple months. Whether or not I take it with me when I move again has yet to be decided.
