Tools and Hardware Reviews of Lasko 4924 Space-Saving High-Velocity 3-Speed Oscillating Blower FanCustomer Review: Nice simple tower fan Summary: 5 Stars
My wife and I bought two of these fans after the first summer heat wave. We've been very happy with them. My in-laws kept raving about the fans using phrases like "is it an AC?" Some other Amazon reviews make the same comparison by the way. So we're back to purchase another as a present for them.
I like the design because it does its thing, does it well, and skips the senseless bells and whistles. It moves air in the room quite well. It oscillates. It has a manual lever to aim the air vertically. And it has three speeds. There are no LEDs which are a pet peeve of mine. There's no remote control. There's no sleep mode. There's no wind simulation mode. The fact that all of these things are missing is a "good thing!" and strongly contrast a Seville Classic tower fan I currently own that actually has all of these idiotic features but which is gathering dust in the garage (the 9 LEDs kept me up at night). I've never heard of the Lasko brand before. But quality seems as good as if not better than similar brands.
Cons? It's not much of a looker. I'm not sure if it's meant to be contemporary, but it's ugly even by contemporary standards. I can't see any obvious way of cleaning it. This worries me a bit as a lot of tower designs come with designed obsolescence. We'll see how it wears over time I guess.
Customer Review: Not really fit for small apartment Summary: 3 Stars
While it is true that this fan moves alot of air, the noise coming from it is rather noticeable in a small apartment.
It might be true that this one unit moves just as much air as two regular tower fan, one can probably find two tower fans that cost about the same is this one.
Customer Review: Not usable indoors. Summary: 2 Stars
We bought this a year ago during our quest for a decent floor fan. It has the air velocity and decibel level of a 757 jet engine. It's usable for drying carpets in a room you don't need to be anywhere near at the same time, or as a shop fan, and for keeping handymen cool outdoors - not kidding. It rivals Colorado Front Range winds in it's ability to dry your hair in two or three minutes without any heat.
Customer Review: ONE GREAT FAN!! Summary: 5 Stars
This fan was in a cabana I rented for a day by the pool on a day in Florda that hit 93 degrees...I thought I actually had air conditioning outdoors. This fan is QUIET, you can use the oscillation or not. It has 3 speeds (low, med or high). It is quiet at all speeds. It truly made a hot, humid day very comfortable. I tried locating this fan at local stores and couldn't find it, so I was excited to see Amazon had it for sale. You will not be disappointed. It is about $20 more expensive than similar models, but I actually tested this one in the cabana and I was sold. You are not going to regret it!!
Customer Review: One heck of a fan Summary: 5 Stars
Purchased this based on other reviews, which pretty much said it all. I am very happy. Labeled as a "high velocity blower," this is one heck of a fan.
