Use EXTREME caution when turning on Lasko 5812 Automatic Air-Flow Heater with Temperature-Regulation System for the first time. Luckily, I did not walk away when I turned it on because within a minute it started smoking and smelled like it was burning. I ordered 3 of these heaters and 2 of them smoked when I turned them on. After further inspection the 2 that did not work, something inside was rattling if shaken. My suggestion is to shake them before turning them on because the one that works does not rattle. But really, get another heater. In my opinion it is not worth it to take the chance of setting your house on fire.
