Customer Review: Diabetic Wonder Ceramic Heater! Summary: 5 Stars
Where do I start to Laud this Marvelous space heater? To start and to explain the Title let me hasten to expound upon how a person with poor foot and ankle circulation can benefit by using this simple heater = Just think "NO more Cold Feet!" and without circulation reducing socks or without batteries or cords or strange devices! When placed about 3 feet in front of your easy chair and by using the "Low" setting one may achieve perhaps the most comfortable and circulation promoting environment possible - especially if you wear loose socks and pj's or sweat pants or even in your robe if you remember to moisturize the front of your legs as it can be somewhat drying. It is particularly nice that one does not run the risk of sustaining burns from touching it with your leg (like with my Sunbeam infrared space heater). It is also virtually silent so you just forget about it and let it run on low all the time. Unfortunately one can not have everything and although one may use this (just too hot when set on "High" to set it so close to maintain the right temperature for your legs) heater on "Max" to heat an entire room it has some trouble in 27 F weather in my 20 x 12 room (and poor insulation) - it would also not function as the Foot/Leg Warmer I use it for. So Yes, I use the Infrared so that it comes on and off at times when the thermostat dips a bit low but the infrared is louder (never realzed HOW loud till I got my ceramic) but between the two it really is the best of both worlds, I also like how by pointing the ceramic towards my bed at night it circulates the heat under the bed so I can actually feel gentle warmth spread as it oscillates and spreads the warmth out and up through my feather mattress (does that mean its worn out?..lol) Worries, I have few but one is with a GSD (German Shepherd Dog) that definitely sheds big time I wonder if it will experience difficulties down the line (either in the rotation mechanism used to oscillate or in the intake vents) - but I have used it this Winter (almost 3 months as of Feb. 1, 2011) frequently and so far so good! I rarely feel so inspired to spread the word about a product but this one has me as a Health Professional imagining how a Nursing Home could incorporate its use in day rooms and Diabetic Care. Like I say it would be perfect in that it never gets hot but electric cords can be no-no's so I don't know but at least along a wall...It really does increase comfort and with improved circulation I notice less problems with night leg cramps and charlie horses! Next? I'm getting rid of my Infrared Heater and getting another Ceramic to take its place in heating the whole room on the max setting and using the auto thermometer settings - and all the other rooms!. Ceramic is great! It is so much better than the red glowing and loud Infrared (that has burned me several times by touching the grill (and leaving its tell-tale honeycomb scorch on my leg!) Anyone will benefit from this heater, but If you are a Diabetic you are a Fool to not take advantage of wuch an inexpensive ANSWER!
Customer Review: Do it... Summary: 5 Stars
If you are sitting here reading these reviews debating on weather to buy or not. DO IT! This heater is totally worth the money and works like a charm. Trying to find the right heater for my 2700 sq ft house I have purchased over 8 different kinds. I found this one and gave it a shot. It works amazingly. I ended up getting 3 more (4 total) and my heat hardly ever runs keeping my house a nice and toasty 72 degrees. The remote is a nice little extra too!
Customer Review: Does Its Job Summary: 3 Stars
This heater does a good job of heating up a room, and keeping it that way.
The main problem with this unit, however, is that it emits a very strong smell similar to burning plastic. It'll linger in the room for a few hours, unless you ventilate the room, which defeats the purpose of using a space heater in a cold environment.
I've written the company about the odor, and they responded that this is normal; the smell is supposed to go away after prolonged use. If a business knows that there's a problem with their product, why don't they address it?
Customer Review: Does exactly what I needed it to do. Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this to heat an 9'x12' attic bedroom in an old Boston two family. This room is really drafty, poorly insulated and currently heated by an old oil heating system, that is basically worthless and extremely costly (we might as well burn penny wrappers-might get better heat!).
I was looking for something I felt comfortable leaving on during the day while we were away, and at night while asleep, to keep the room at a constant 60-65 degrees (this room will dip down to 50 degrees during the day and lower at night when its cold out), bring it up to around 70 degrees fairly quickly when we got home/up in the morning, not blow out our really old breakers and not cause a huge increase in the electric bill. Bill did go up, but not nearly close to the cost of oil!
Have used it for about two months and it did it all. I don't mind the beeping, as some reviewers have, and find the remote to be very handy in the morning. I can turn up the temp and hit snooze.
Gave it only 4 stars because it will only function on low energy setting in max mode (you can't use the thermostat in low energy mode, so that it cycles on and off.) It also did give off a fairly strong ceramic odor for several weeks.
For the money, this is a great heater.
