Tools and Hardware Reviews of Leatherman 830032 Blast Multitool with Leather SheathCustomer Review: Cannot Go Wrong ! Summary: 5 Stars
You can't go wrong with ANY of the Leatherman Multi-Tools. I've been carrying one or another model for over 25 years since I splurged and bought my first original PST. I've replaced one I lost while repairing my car along the side of the road one night. Other than that, Leatherman Co has rebuilt any tool I managed to "ding up"(100% due to my own abuse!) Whenever I've upgraded to a new model, currently the Wave, my old tools have ended up in "emergency kits" or given to an envying fishing buddy.
The Blast is a great value. This last purchase was as a gift, and I know it will last them a lifetime.

Without a doubt, my husband uses this tool every day in one way or another. I have never heard a single complaint, and it fits easily into his pocket and rests on his night stand when not in the jeans he is wearing. I've asked for help fixing things on several occasions, and his pulling out the multi-tool has helped us on two different moves. I highly recommend this product, as we both LOVE this leatherman.
Customer Review: Don't leave home without it. Summary: 5 Stars
As a US Navy Seabee, I feel naked without my Leatherman. I lost one once, spent three days looking for it, then bought a new one on the fourth. My M-16 spends a lot of time at the Armory in storage, but if my Leatherman isn't on my right hip, then it's in my right hand.
This is also the perfect knife for deer hunters. I always get comments on how cleanly dressed my deer is when I bring them in from the woods. The Blast is the only knife you need in the woods, the cutting blade is about as sharp as you could want, and the saw blade makes quick work of a pelvis. It also has a ruler that could be useful for measuring spikes. That saw blade is what really sets this knife apart from my Gerber, and why I only carry my Leatherman Blast in the woods. Gerber's are good, but that RemGrit saw doesn't stack up to the Leatherman.
If you're a handyman, or a laborer like me, there may be other multi-tools that better suit your needs, but if you're a large game hunter, this is what you need right here. I'm here to buy my dad one.
Customer Review: Excellent high quality product. Summary: 5 Stars
This is not my first multi-tool but it is my first Leatherman and I am really impressed. It's just an excellent, high quality, well made tool. Every feature is top notch and I find the lock/blade feature for every tool extremely desirable. I would recommend this tool to anyone.
Customer Review: Excellent tool. Superb value. Summary: 5 Stars
My girlfriend bought me this for my birthday about four years ago, and would often joke about how no other present she ever gets me will live up to this one. That finally changed when she got me a Leatherman Juice S2, but not because it is any better than the "Blast," but rather because it is smaller and more pocket-friendly. Both models are excellent, but I live in a city, and some of the tools on the "Blast" just weren't that useful in my everyday life (the saw and file in particular) and the size of the pliers was a bit much for what I need. The "Juice" is smaller and fits in the hip pocket of my jeans, and has everything I need on a daily basis.
That being said, the "Blast" is excellent for camping (the saw is awesome), impromptu home-improvement projects (the pliers are first rate), or general small repair work. This would be excellent to keep in your glove compartment, bug-out-bag, in your desk at work, etc. The tool quality is excellent for most situations the average person will encounter. I've cut hard wires, pried nails and other various things, and cut into drywall, 2x4s, and dead tree limbs with the saw. I've never had a problem with it. All of the tools lock, not only for convenience but also safety. The only thing I dislike is the small size of the scissors, but that's a minor complaint as they cut just fine when you need them too.
As I mentioned, it's a little big to carry in your pocket, though if you were an electrician, contractor, repairman etc. and used it more frequently, the bigger size would be an advantage, and if you put it in the sheath on your belt you'll barely notice it. It's actually not heavy at all for the size and strength of the tool, I think partly because of the handle inserts which also give you a decent grip when using the piers, but don't seem to sacrifice any of the strength of the handles.
I don't have any "this tool saved my life"-type stories that Leatherman fans often love to tell, but having this tool has made my life easier countless times, usually at work or somewhere I don't have access to a full rang of tools. The funny thing about the Blast is that it gives you the feeling that you don't need that toolbox full of tools. It's a lot of fun to use and hasn't let me down. I don't own a "Wave," so I can't tell you anything about the difference in quality between a the two, but the "Blast" seems well built to me, and I don't think you could find a better multi-tool for the price. If you are going to buy one Leatherman for general repair/outdoor work, I think this is a great choice. This is the Leatherman that made me love Leathermans. I own this, a "Squirt," a "Juice," and two Leatherman pocket knives, and all are excellent quality products.
